Bantams Rey Bautista, Gerardo Espinoza, Super feathers Fernando Trejo, Urbano Antillon, along with a special 4-rounder featuring Jorge Paez Jr., opened the pre-Christmas weekend with a sizzling offering for fight fans in attendance.

Show opens with age 19, bantamweight Rey Bautista (17-0, 14) and a more seasoned at age 25, Gerardo Espinoza (28-10, 26) in a surprisingly competitive action affair that went to the judges after eight stanzas of back and forth heated exchanges.

Once the smoke cleared the voting favored the still undefeated WBO #1 ranked Bautista - but not before the un-rated Espinoza dropped the touted youngster with a big right hand flush on the button in candle two.

Scoring went Bautista 76-75, 76-75, 77-74.

Main event saw unbeaten Urbano Antillon (16-0, 10 KO) severely tested by a willing Fernando Trejo, that at age 31, and 38 priors with 9 losses, 4 draws, showing strong staying powers over 10 busy candles.

This one opened with both willing to work in the trenches - and over the opening four stanzas the veteran Trejo skills gained the advantage - the tide would turn over the midway mark as Antillon the puncher, surprisingly went the stick and move route.

Still, this one went nip and tuck down to the wire - a questionable point deduction for low blow charged to Antillon during stanza eight resulted in a difficult scoring assignment for the judges at ringside.

Tallies favored Antillon 95-94, 97-92 vs. Trejo 95-94 - this unofficial had it Trejo 96-93 in points and 6-4 under the yesterday round by round method.

Jorge Paez Jr. stops Lee de Leon

A "special attraction" four -rounder saw Jorge Paez Jr. remaining unblemished at a now 6-0 with all wins via knockout - last nite victim age 30 with total of six pro fights, one Lee De Leon dropping to 2-4 2 KO’s -  end arrived during round two action courtesy of inside left/uppercut and a following Paez flurry.

Post scripts:
Rey Bautista ~ still a baby at age 19, and in a pool of pugilistic piranha at 118 - still, catches the eye with legit power from both sides. Right hand loaded with good balance and quick movement. Maybe a tad spoiled by the early knockout to decision ratio but shows good technique - jury still out but definitely a prospect. The WBO #1, WBC #10, WBA unranked, speaks volumes about the today alphabet money making game.
Geraldo Espinoza ~  At only age 25 and already a veteran of 38 kept appointments and a tarnished 28-10 win, lose, stat sheet hints of likely mismanagement. Kid entered this one after losing last four outings and 6 of prior 7.

Urbano Antillon ~ Age 23, and undefeated at 16 with 10 by knockout is understandable why he jumped from the staring block as he did - but more surprising is showing the ability to change to the jab and move method. Also failed to fold when pressure began mounting during the "championship" rounds of 8 thru ten. Still unranked by all A to Z groupies.

Fernando Trejo ~ Is now a senior at age 31, and working the difficult junior lightweight scene - but this unofficial had it for him in round by round tabulations.
Has clearly learned the art of stealing a stanza with blistering closing seconds flurries. A bit surprised to see he rated no better than WBA & WBC at #13 and unranked under IBF & WBO standings.

Jorge Paez Jr. ~ Feelings here is the kid at age 18, undefeated or not after six outings, is strictly amateur in style and/or proven substance. First move is to reduce the ludicrous fan club that polluted the ring prior to his scheduled four rounder. Positives are good size and reach at lightweight - the inside left uppercut-hook catches the eye. But the opposition was there to be had -  age 30 DeLeon at 2-4 with 2 KO’s is nothing more than a stat. Could develop with better schooling - every foe will not go quietly, and the left jab screaming to be let out of the bag fell on deaf ears. Needs the stick, pop, move approach or the hype will prematurely go down the pipe.

Lee Deleon ~ Agree this one last noche was a premature stoppage - but the handwriting was on the wall. Age and resumé suggest calling it an aborted career.
