The ESPN2 FNF tour touched down at college tank town Norman, Oklahoma for an evening of club fight level action, that saw Oscar Diaz (21-1, 11KO) doing the expected, while tossing blanks at Thomas Davis of 9-2-1, 5 KO’s fame in the welterweight featured attraction.

The younger, at age 22 Diaz, set the tempo from the opening bell with a busy pace that Davis (age 33) couldn’t match, opting instead for a survivor mode that would carry him to the finish line.

Other than a point deduction from imported referee Jay Nady at the close of opening stanza one - for hitting after the bell - resulted in a 9-9 even round it was all Diaz with flurries and combinations to both the body and head.

Davis, a tall welter at a reported 6-2, did occasionally slow the swarming Diaz with a counter left-hook, right hand combination, but never utilized the height and reach advantages to make this one a competitive affair.

Scoring went for Diaz  96-93, 97-92, 97-92 - this unofficial saw it Diaz 99-90 in points, and 9- 0 with one even using the round by round method.

Post Scripts: Oscar Diaz ~ This was another thought out selection by the Duva team  to pad the resume` of its young charge. Davis may have been more a threat  had he used the ring behind the jab, but is clearly "lazy"come the offense department.  Diaz should do well at the ESPN level, but too many "names" among the rated welters at this juncture.

Thomas Davis ~ Hard to analyze … showed a good chin … nice movement … but simply doesn’t put anything together when he should. The opportunities were there facing a shorter, walk in opponent. "Opponent" label is his for the full duration at a now age 33.

Referee Jay Nady ~ Interesting … promoters bring this celebrated clown in as hired hand - and just where does the Oklahoma commission fit into that move? Then, Jerky Jay goes and nips the hand that feeds when penalizing the Duva - Brooks "Diaz" entry. The point deduction to Diaz at end of round one strictly sho-biz move and totally premature to register any intent.
………………….............................................................................................

Super-Middleweights Allen Green (16-0, 11) and Ted Muller (16-3-1, 6) went ten rounds of yawn provoking, gym sparring session non-action, with undefeated , ESPN2 prospect touted Green cruising to a lopsided decision win.

The pre-fite taped interview thing has got to go … at club fight level it does nothing but fan the ego of the touted ones. Green looked fine and dandy in style and technique - but then, so could this semi-cadaver aged scribbler, were I paired with an exhumed "Tattoo" of Fantasy Island sitcom fame.

The forward moving Muller target, at a now aged 32, couldn’t be missed by  anything Green tossed his way, and had nothing going when tossing leather.

Green may be better than I credit him with - more reason to recycle the interview game - could be kid was enjoying the exposure too much to get a hand made job completed.

Closing Comments: Studio host Stan Verrett a mega improvement to the "No Clue" Kenny approach while at the helm.
