Sometimes it happens, in those club fight prelim battles, an undercard sizzler steals the show - and that’s what we got when jr. lightweight novices Agnaldo Nunes and Isidro Granados battled from start to finis to a majority decision draw.

Was the first return of ShoBox at new Friday date with highly touted undefeated  Mike Arnaoutis (10-0-2, 4 KO’s) facing Jesse Feliciano (12-2-2, 7 K0’s) for the NABO junior welter title in the main event.

But first, the eight round warmer upper, that saw Nunes with the edge in size and working from the southpaw stance, and a young 20 year old gamer in Granados tossing leather in serious fashion right from the opening bell.

Neither would gain control over stanzas one and two … Granada maybe steals opening candle with a late flurry … then it’s Nunes grabbing round two with accurate left hands that caught the eye.

Now it’s candle three and Nunes looking good and on the offense … but a Granados surprise straight right hand counter lands flush and down goes Nunes.

The Brazilian battles back and again looks in command over numbers four and five but then it’s stanza six and a Granados left-hook counter scores in picture perfect style and Nunes once again visits the canvas.

Still, it would be Nunes come stanza seven as he swarms over a seemingly tiring Granados, who has enough in the tank to make it a scoring judges nightmare after eight furious candles.

Official tabulations had it Nunes 76-74 and two judges having it 75-75 for the majority draw verdict.

This unofficial had it 75-75 in points, and using the yesterday round by round system had it for Nunes 5-3.

No damage on the résumé as Nunes remains at 9-1, 5 KO’s but now has a "hanging chad" in the addition of a draw - Granados stays 12 up, 1 down with 8 KO’s plus the draw.

Post Script ~ Nunez has some pluses  … good size and technique from the southpaw side. Busy, good jab and decent power … chin may be questionable. Still, recovered from both knockdowns to regain upper hand.
Granados: Could become a good one at 130 pounds … still growing at age 20. Mucho heart coupled with good skills that came through while in with tough southpaw.

………………………………..........................................................................

Main event was one of them proverbial quickies. The "favored" species from Athens, Greece in Mike Arnaoutis had the edge in all departments over a Jesse Feliciano who never got out of the gate.

Could have been the southpaw style, or maybe the Arnaoutis press clippings played a role … either way it went Feliciano down from looping left hand … again … and again … stopped at 2:49 of opening candle.

Credit for this one goes to the "brain trust" that did excellent job of opponent selection. The now 11-0-2, 5 KO’s on the application may not be the real deal as the Showtime crew is suggesting.

As for Feliciano, who now drops to 12-3-2, 7 KO’s …   this one was his second straight knockout loss. Likely a hint of what lies ahead if judged by this outing.
