Telefutura Solo-Boxeo returned its FNF with undefeated Juanito Garcia facing short-notice Detroit portside slinger Cornelius Lock in a s/featherweight main event.

Garcia grabs the opening round in a duel of quick handed counter punchers - both showing good skills - Garcia working from the starboard and Lock the portside.

Now stanza two - late in round a Lock picture perfect right hook counter and Garcia is down. Beats the count and remains upright as the bell comes to the rescue - but Juanito returns to the corner on rubbery legs.

Surprisingly the young 21 year Garcia, shows quick recovery and outworks Lock during numero tres - but it’s clear the more seasoned Detroiter has more lethal power going for him.

Then stanza four it would be Lock dropping the curtain with a sizzling straight left hand to the solar-plexus - Garcia down and in visible pain - referee Raul Caiz then goes through the superfluous ten and out counting.

Time of finis 2:32 mark of number four.

Rest of the story:

  • Cornelius Lock (17-3-1, 10 KOs) age 29 - good size and technique with major league punching power from both sides. Still, has come up short when stepping up a rung. Has earned another try at the next level.

  • Juanito Garcia (14-1, 5 KOs) age 21 and this the first debit - showed heart and fighting spirit. Too willing to bring the mail. Need is to upgrade the defensive game that was missing in action. The solar plexus a vulnerable target - a network of nerves located in cavity behind stomach. Sometimes called “pit of the stomach.”

  • Referee Raul Caiz ~ Let them fight - could have been quicker in calling it no-mas - no need for theatrical ten count when kid was clearly disabled.

    ………………………………................................................................................................

Co-feature scheduled for eight rounds closed on early note with Alejandro Perez going to 12-0-1, 7 KOs with opening round blitz that stopped Omar Adorno at 2:01 mark.

Perez a kid at age 21 proved too quick handed for Adorno who displayed good early chin, but right hand and closing left hook dropped the curtain.

Perez worthy of future consideration - showed skills - but Adorno not the answer to what the future may be. Has now dropped to opponent level 16-10-1, 10 KOs.
