Last
night Sho-Box FNF new generation twin-bill dished up a
couple attention getters that saw Cruiserweight Latee Kayode
handling a willing Ed Perry in convincing style in the main
event, and Luis Franco prevailing over
Outlaw Eric Hunter in the semi-final.
Show opens with
featherweights Franco and Hunter battling for the minor
league WBO Intercontinental strap while taking the
assignment seriously -- stanza one an action round with both
firing away at close quarters -- then round two its Hunter
straying below the proverbial DMZ with bad intentions and is
docked a point by referee Jon Schorle.
Things continued hot and
heavy with the Cuban transplant proving too complete for the
the quick-handed Outlaw Hunter, who tried closing
the gap by going the illegal route as he incorporated head
butting and numerous rabbit punches to the errant
conventional wild winging.
Frustration was catching up
to Hunter, while willing over the front side, was being
blanked entering an infamous stanza ocho -- and then the
proverbial last straw first its Franco punished by third
buffoon in charge Schorle for clash of heads, Hunter quickly
counters with low blow Schorle jumps in to call it a DQ at
2:34 mark of the round.
Post Scripts: Luis Franco
(8-0, 5 KOs) ~ age 28 -- the late
arriving Cuban now calling Miami, FL home displayed nice
balance of offense & defense. A sharp shooting counter
puncher although not with one-punch power. Works well on
both inside and outside.
Eric Hunter ( 15-2-1DQ, 8 KOs)
--
age 24 -- brain trust gambled in this step up against well
conditioned and more complete entity -- the Outlaw has nice
moves, good chin, and while inaccurate, has the makings of
good club fighter. The outlaw sobriquet has got to go. Jab
was non-existent -- needs one for starters.
..
Feature bout showcased hot cruiserweight prospect Latee
Kayode of Nigeria tossing a shutout over five
stanzas, before closing the show in round six
courtesy of a two-punch combination that went left to body-
right hand to head, that saw outclassed Ed Perry taking the
full count on one knee.
Kayode used height and reach
advantage in effective style the jab repeatedly found the
mark and was usually followed by accurate combinations.
First knockdown came during stanza four left hook to the
body dropped Perry and hinted the body could be the target
for an early nights work.
Post Scripts: Latee Kayode
(15-0, 14 KOs) ~ age 27 Rated WBC #6, WBO #8, WBA #11
solid future title threat in (Cruiserweight) division that
is less than loaded in talent. Zinger left jab and quick
hands the road up the ladder from current NABO-NABF triple A
level strap holder.
Ed Perry (18-5-2, 11
KOs)
~ age 34 The Hoosier gave it an early effort but pretty
much showed for a pay check once the Nigerian found the
body. Until then Perrys chin was holding up. Only chance
would have been fighting out of crouch ala Smokin Joe
Frazier once did enroute to heavyweight title. Perry on
wrong slope of hill.
