JONES RETAINS NABF BELT VIA SPLIT DECISION

The ESPN Tuesday summer series ventured out to the left coast of Spokane, Washington for a NABF club fight duel with defending Jr. Middle champion Rodney Jones eking out a split verdict win over Teddy Reid.

The win keeps the Jones name somewhere near the bottom of the divisions’ top ten - but realistically, neither Jones or Reid at respective ages of 36 & 34, can any longer be seen as serious threats.

Still, there’s pay days out there at the ESPN-Sho-Box level for both veterans … Jones a tall southpaw with skills and working from the port side, showed he can still get it done with others, such as "2-Gun" Teddy, who today is reduced to a single right hand bomb thrower.

Reid managed to drop Rodney in final stanza 12 with a wild roundhouse right that got help from the fatigue factor that saw both battlers huffin-n-puffin come the championship rounds.

Jones beat the count and quickly showed willingness to meet Reid once again in the trenches.

Scoring went for Jones 115-111, 114-111 - Reid 114-111. This unofficial saw it for the small arms accuracy over the mostly missed artillery fire to the tune of 115-111.

Closing comments: was nice of referee Vic Dracula, er,  Drakulich to balance point deductions to both fighters for respective low blows. Would be better if he wasn’t in such need for attention with the "Johnny on the spot interference. Someone please remind this guy every borderline isn’t in need of  immediate attention - baby-sitting not part of the referee qualifier.
