GUERRERO STOPS VALDEZ IN STRONG OUTING

It was all Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero in a ShoBox battle of southpaws with Adrian Valdez in what was more a Guerrero showcase than a serious stepping stone to bigger and better things.

While both fighters mirrored one another in style over the early going, it was clear  the bigger and more finished product was the one with the strange "The Ghost" sobriquet.

Guerrero has good size at 5' 9" to go with the port side offerings - and in a busy affair as it was with Valdez, he was fresh from start to finish that came in final candle number 12.

Helped that a game Valdez is shortchanged in the power punching department …still, Adrian came to do battle and willingly exchanged with the taller and slicker Guerrero.

But come stanza twelve the story was written … all Guerrero to the tune of 9-2 in rounds as they touched gloves at center stage … and the end would arrive at 1:55 seconds mark of the final stanza.

Robert Guerrero ~ the best news for now is the kid is a baby at age 22 … is also a growing one at an already 5' 9". Not so great news is he competes at the loaded in talent 140 lb class and it doesn’t get much easier at full welter. But for now, life is good for "The Ghost."  Stay tuned. More will follow with each subsequent outing. Onus is on the hungry and impatient brain trust.

Adrian Valdez ~ Just this neutral corner opinion. Think the Valdez movers and shakers should give better thought to its age 24 year old charge. Kid is tough and willing but the shortage of clout should be the signal to pair him more intelligently. Instead of a Guerrero fight, it would have been much wiser to shoot for a Dunne return.

Post Scripts: Heavyweight semi-final featured unbeaten Leroy Childs and Malcom Tann (14-1, 7 KOs) in scheduled eight rounder. Opening stanza was best described as feeling out round with both the 6' 5" at 230 pounds Tann and 6’ at 247 pounds Childs playing it close to the vest. A very tentative and concerned looking Childs fell from right hand body punches late in stanza two. Then opts to call it a nite on one knee. Best I can do here is question who them cadavers Childs (11-0, 10 KOs) had disposed of prior to this sad outing. As for the winner Malcom Tann, well, he is only a young age 26 … maybe with luck and right foes we could have a 21st century Henry Akinwande in the making.
