It was all Hector Camacho Jr. in last nite's ESPN2 TNF mismatch with late Canadian substitute Byron Mackie ... Hector called the shots from start to finis ... and his accomplishing the assignment with little effort places the "W" in the waltz category.
Intended original victim, a faded John Brown, would likely have suffered same fate as Byron baby had he not gone AWOL a day before the bout - and what about this second coming of Camacho Jr.?
Well, he has solid boxing skills ... one of the few around today that has mastered the ol' spin, turn and whack trick of yesteryear ... illegal or not, it does come in handy ... altho' last noche it cost him a point deduction ... instead of a blanking, he earns himself a 99-90, 99-89, 99-89 in the scoring department.
Major problem for young Hector is lack of clout ... and the ticker carries a stigma as well ... time will surely tell the rest of the story but for now, it says here, his doing biz at full welter should carry that proverbial surgeon's warning.
****Referee Malike Waleed a refreshing change from the norm ... solid job while in control from a distance ... none of the darting here, darting there ... readying to pounce, nonsense ... the guy is good.
And so too is prelim fighter Ishmail Arvin ... picks up win number seven by decision over a very good southpaw in Leon Pearson ... action affair with both having good moments ... for a rookie, Arvin caught the eye in solving problems tossed his way from a portsider with more than a few good moves.
