Was no surprise here that the Calvin Brock brain trust
selected Timor over cousin Sultan Ibragimov to keep
the "USA" hopeful alive and well - until the bubble
breaks - and what the paying clientele at Caesars,
Vegas got for its do, re, mi, was as terrible an
exhibition of professional boxing as it gets.
Fact is Brock, at age 31, and no more than a now 29
carefully selected trips to the office is more no-hope
than hopeful among the top dogs at heavyweight - as in
Wlad, Hasim, Sergei, Toney, Brewster … and likely
Peter, Briggs, Krasniqi as well.
The people's choice on this side of the big pond is
simply a nice guy … but as that past beizbol manager
of days gone by Leo Durocher once shouted, "nice guys
finish last" - and Brock baby fits the image to the
letter.
Brock is a counter puncher by nature - problem is
nothing comes natural-like … must have it teed up like
a golf ball with no chance of anything coming back in
return - this Timor had gimme written all over it but
cautious Calvin lets a show case op get away.
Problem with Brock is he played too many team sports -
and rare as a snowball in hell is a no-hitter in this
great sport of professional boxing - and judging by
last noche’s outing that is what Brock is in search of
- sorry Calvin, in this racket there’s nobody to toss
a ball to.
Timor enters at undefeated with a fraudulent 21-0-1,
13 KO’s - good grief, the guy hits like a
featherweight - 13 whacks? Could be the victims were
survivors of short rationed Soviet salt mines on
community service parole.
No way does Timor the timid make it to the finish line
against a valid heavyweight contender - were it a
Peter fight the search would still be on for the
missing Ibragimov dome.
Scoring went unanimous Brock 119-109, 117-111, 115-113
- this unofficial saw it 118-110 in points and 10- 2
under the round by round method.
Post Scripts: Calvin Brock 29-0, 22 KO) ~ for my taste
has written himself off as valid heavyweight hopeful -
already age 31 and still works like an amateur - can
punch if no threat of incoming in sight - has zero pro
fighting instincts. The rush for USA hopeful is not
spelled Calvin Brock.
Timor Ibragimov ( 21-1-1, 13 KO) ~
hopefully cousin Sultan shows us more on his USA debut
- in the interim Uzbekistan is calling.
Referee Vic Draculak - like how this
guy breaks clinches - negatives are constant gestures
that only he can interpret.
