BOJADO PROMISE SHOWS IN RUBIO WIN By George J. Elsasser

The Houston, Texas Showtime card had the Francisco Bojado - Juan Carlos Rubio bout sandwiched between undefeated Rocky Juarez and Juan Diaz ... but this returner was a welcome one for the local enthusiasts.

Maybe Rubio steals an opening candle that was short of action ... but from that point on the nite belonged to a visibly improved Bojado in the skills department.

This one bore zero resemblance to the first meeting back in 2002 ... label that one pre- Mayweather Sr ~ and nothing similar in technique to the Bojado that come up short in the scoring following a pitch and catch punch fest.

Not a chance ... this trip to the plate it was a more mature Bojado ... exit the brawler ... enter the boxer-puncher ~ and the dominance began in round two ~ the jab and combinations ... the lateral movement coupled with the sneak right hand.

Was only heart that sustained Rubio ... banged around in number five ... and again in stanza seven ... rocked big time in candle ten before finally being dropped in eleven ~ but courage alone saw Rubio finish upright.

And Bojado ... had himself a text-book laugher ... but the bigger guns out there at jr. welter suggest Mayweather Sr. and company show the patience its charge did in combat on this meeting ~ age 20 is still a bambino.
