Lightweights topped the Telefutura year 2007 finale with undefeated Urbano Antillon facing Adrian Valdez - ends at 1:16 of opening stanza with Antillon standing and Valdez in fetal position.

Valdez chose to trade early - and paid for it when caught by a Urbano left hook and is down - then less than a minute later it’s Valdez trapped on the ropes after a  solid right hand, and when caught sitting on lower strand is tagged a second time in coup de grace fashion. End of story when late arrival referee in charge Rockhead Burke gets to the scene to call it no-mas.

From what little the viewer had to go on, Valdez simply lacked the guns to wage battle in the trenches with a bigger punching Antillon.

Post Scripts: Urbano Antillon (21-0, 14 KOs) ~ age 25 - at this point in time looks just fine at the small club level. Until tested the jury not as yet selected. Looks like a fun action fighter to circle on the calendar.
Adrian Valdez (18-6-3, 9 KOs) ~ age 27 - southpaw, but judging by the resumé not all that difficult to find. Translation hints of mediocrity - the label on the package shouts handle with care.

Heavyweight co-feature scheduled for eight rounds saw undefeated local David Rodriguez of 26-0 with 25 KO’s in with Marcus McGee of 19-13, 9 KO’s infamy.

Goes the distance with Rodriguez coming away with the win to the tune of 77-75, 77-75, 79-73 - and, undefeated or not, judging by what he brought to the table it’s a reminder that all that glitters isn’t gold.

McGee showed little inclination over most rounds to be competitive - saved his best for final stanza eight when connecting with seven unanswered “power” punches - too little too late to upset the apple cart.

Rest of the story: David Rodriguez (27-0, 25 KOs) ~ age 30 a key number - unfinished work with little chance of improving with age. Carries too much weight at 242 pounds. Slow on all counts - thoughts of his first step up the proverbial ladder is too scary to contemplate.
Marcus McGee (19-14, 9 KOs) ~ age 36 and it showed - in style as exciting as watching grass grow. Had he come for more than a paycheck he could well have upset the apple cart. Still, no future.
