Fresh of his “body shot felt around the world”
that crippled former world champion Leonard Dorin on July 24 at Boardwalk Hall
in Atlantic City, NJ, WBC super lightweight champion Arturo Gatti has informed
Main Events that he wishes to defend his title again before year’s end, it was
announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. Gatti has made it clear that he
plans to return immediately to training camp to prepare for a November or
December bout. “I intend to fight again before the end of the year, maybe
even on pay-per-view,” said Gatti. “The body shot I ended my fight against Dorin
with was a blessing because I came out of the fight without any injuries. But it
also prevented me from getting the rounds that I wanted. I don’t want to wait
till next year to fight again because it will mean that I’ll have only fought
two rounds in almost a full year.”
