SYCUAN RINGSIDE PROMOTIONS' CARLOS BALDOMIR MAKES 7-DAY WEIGHT PRIOR TO WBC SUPER WELTERWEIGHT SHOWDOWN WITH VERNON FORREST SATURDAY, JULY 28
Former World Boxing Council welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir weighed 159.6 pounds Friday for his WBC-mandated weigh-in seven days prior to meeting another ex-WBC 147-pound champ, Vernon Forrest, July 28 in Tacoma, Wash., at the Emerald Queen Casino for the vacant WBC super welterweight title.
The weigh-in took place at the Sycuan Ringside Promotions Gym, a state-of-the-art boxing facility in El Cajon, Calif., where Baldomir has been conducting training camp.  WBC vice president Mauricio Sulaiman presided over the weigh-in.


FORREST-BALDOMIR NOW FIGHTING FOR VACANT WBC SUPER WELTER TITLE IN TACOMA, WASHINGTON JULY 28

With Floyd Mayweather, Jr. electing to keep his World Boxing Council welterweight title instead of the WBC super welterweight title he won from Oscar De La Hoya in May,   former world champions and current top-rated contenders VERNON FORREST (38-2, 28 KOs), from Atlanta, and CARLOS BALDOMIR (43-10-6, 13 KOs), from Argentina will now be fighting for the newly-vacated WBC super welterweight title, Saturday, July 28.  Promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, in association with Brian Halquist Productions and Sycuan Ringside Promotions, the Forrest-Baldomir title tilt will be broadcast live from the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, on HBO Boxing After Dark, beginning at 10:15 P.M. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast.)  Combined, Baldomir and Forrest have 81 victories between them and are world-rated No. 2 and No. 3 by the WBC, respectively.
The officials assigned to this world championship fight are as follows: Referee: Jay Nady (Nevada), Judges Samuel Conde (Puerto Rico), Anek Hongtongkam (Thailand), Tom McDonough (Washington). Remaining tickets, priced from $50 to $250, are on sale the Emerald Queen Casino Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets

Former welterweight champions Vernon Forrest and Carlos Baldomir will fight July 28 at Tacoma’s Emerald Queen Casino, in the state’s biggest professional boxing match in nearly two decades.  

With Floyd Mayweather, Jr. electing to keep his World Boxing Council welterweight title instead of the WBC super welterweight title he won from Oscar De La Hoya in May, Forrest (38-2, 28 KOs) and Baldomir (43-10-6, 13 KOs) will now be fighting for the newly-vacated WBC super welterweight title in a 12-round bout.

This Saturday night we will see a battle between two former Ring magazine Welterweight champions, both of whom are at a crossroads in their careers. Both have had their high moments in the ring, but for both men those moments have been in the past. For one, a win could mean getting back into the title picture. For  the other, a loss could mean disappearing from the forefront.
