Adamek TKO's Maddalone in 5 Rounds...
Tomasz Adamek [43-1, 28 KO’s] controlled the action and had no problem with scrapper Vinny Maddalone [33-7, 24 KO’s] Thursday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, using his dominating skill to beat down the Flushing, Queens, New York native and dropping him in the fifth round for a TKO victory and ending the battle when Maddalone's corner stopped the fight.
Adamek looked very adept with his swirling combinations and timing. Maddalone didn't have a chance as the Polish Gladiator did what he had to do to win.  He beat him up good and then disposed of him.  Now, Vitali Klitschko, the WBC Champion should be next in line for Adamek, a fight that would evoke some fire for heavyweight boxing fans and a fight that will identify Adamek's true position as a legitimate heavyweight.

Kayode's KO Streak Continues: Cuban Olympian Luis Franco Remains Unbeaten....

The knockout streak lives on for Lateef "Power" Kayode, the Hollywood cruiserweight from Nigeria who registered a sixth-round knockout for the 14th consecutive fight on ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME Friday night from Chumash Casino Resort.

In the co-feature, former Cuban Olympian Luis "La Estrella" Franco remained undefeated moving his record to 8-0 (5 KOs) with a disqualification (low blows) win over Eric "Outlaw" Hunter at 2:34 of the eighth round.

Kayode, Franco Prevail in Convincing Style... by George Elsasser

Last night Sho-Box FNF "New Generation" twin-bill dished up a couple attention getters that saw Cruiserweight Lateef Kayode handling a willing Ed Perry in convincing style in the main event, and Luis Franco prevailing over "Outlaw" Eric Hunter in the semi-final.

Show opens with featherweights Franco and Hunter battling for the minor league WBO Intercontinental strap while taking the assignment seriously -- stanza one an action round with both firing away at close quarters -- then round two it’s Hunter straying below the proverbial DMZ with bad intentions and is docked a point by referee Jon Schorle.

Ayi Bruce Scores Majority Decision Over Shamone Alvarez at Bally's...

Before a standing room only crowd at Bally's in Atlantic City, Ghana's Ayi Bruce, upset hometown favorite Shamone "The Truth" Alvarez and in the process picked up the Vacant IBA Continental Welterweight Title winning a majority decision over ten exciting and action packed rounds.  Alvarez-Bruce headlined a seven bout card promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing.

Alvarez came out hard and fast in the first landing with both hands to the head and body of Bruce and setting a pace that would continue for much of the fight.

The middle rounds saw both fighters more than willing to sit and trade, bringing the packed house into a frenzy time and time again. Bruce began finding a home for a looping right hand in the 5th against the southpaw Alvarez.  Alvarez was the aggressor as he continuously pressed the action, but Bruce countered nicely from the outside.

Sharkie's Machine: Carl Froch Shuts Out Arthur Abraham... by Frank Gonzalez Jr.

"King" Arthur Abraham (31-2, 25 KOs) learned the hard way that you can't be a one trick pony in boxing. Having big KO power is great but boxing is by definition, the art of self defense, hitting without being hit. It's not just going in and trying to land the haymaker that ends the fight or waiting till the late rounds to try it. That may work sometimes but you can't build your boxing career around it. There's just too much a good defensive fighter can do to nullify that approach and make you pay. Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KOs), is a tough guy known for his own late round knockouts and being more of a banger than a boxer.

Ward Survives Bika to Once Again Defend World Title at Home....

Andre "S.O.G." Ward out-brawled and out-battled a rough and tumble and otherwise worthy opponent in Sakio "The Scorpion"  Bika on Saturday night, winning a unanimous 12-round decision to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight championship belt in front of his enthusiastic hometown fans at the Oracle Arena and on SHOWTIME.

Earlier in the day, Ward's Super Six World Boxing Classic opponent was learned as he will next face Arthur Abraham in the Tournament Semifinals. One of the pre-tournament favorites going into the Tournament, Abraham lost a 12-round unanimous decision against Carl Froch in Helsinki, Finland, also on SHOWTIME. Froch will take on Glen Johnson in the other Tournament Semifinal.

Muriqi Defeats Judah in Brooklyn by Decision...

This past Saturday night in front of an over flow crowd at The Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, Light Heavyweight contender Elvir Muriqi scored an impressive ten round unanimous decision over Daniel Judah in a battle of New York fighters that highlighted an eight bout card that was promoted by Rob Diaz Havoc Boxing Promotions.

The co-feature saw a battle of two undefeated Light Heavyweights from Brooklyn as Will Rosinsky scored a eight round unanimous decision over Yasin Rashid.

U.S. Army captain Boyd Melson had to get off the canvas in round one to comeback to score a for round unanimous decision over Andrew Jones in Melson's long awaited pro debut.

Melson donated his entire purse to Stem Cell Research.

Martinez Left-Hand Bomb Starches Williams in Two... by George Elsasser

Defending WBC middleweight champ Sergio Martinez not only stunned the viewer in last night's defense against Paul "Punisher" Williams, but abruptly put his rival to sleep with a single power left hand flush on the kisser.
Some described the delivery as a left-hook -- but the bomb was more a looping left hand from the southpaw stance that found the jaw. Either way, it stopped Williams in his tracks before he dropped face first to the canvas.

By my Rankings, Williams vs Martinez Is for all the Marbles... by Martin Wade

It seems like it took four months of misery to get to a relevant month of boxing; it also cost Shannon Briggs some of his long-term health. Once here, with a loaded November of boxing, the well- oiled machine that are Top Rank and HBO seem to be doing a good job of telling you that there's only one fight that matters.

Paul Williams Knocked Out in Two by Sergio Martinez... by Frank Gonzalez Jr.

Middleweights Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KOs) and Sergio Martinez are two of the best fighters in boxing. At six feet, three inches tall, (but listed at six-one) Williams towers over most of the competition as he fights, anywhere from 147 to 160.

Martinez Does Away with Williams in Two... by Daniel Miltz
In this highly anticipated rematch of his disputed majority decision loss, WBC middleweight phenom, Argentine's own Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez delivered a powerful devastating 'sweeping left hook' to put Paul 'The Punisher' Williams on the canvas at 1:10 of round two in the first defense of his title. Over 5,000 fans were in attendance at the 'Famed Majestic Boardwalk Hall,' HBO televised the event this past Saturday, November 20, 2010.

Pacquiao - Margarito Week After... by George Elsasser

Passed on the Nov. 13 HBO PPV of Pacquiao - Margarito  bout - then read the various media reports and wasn't surprised how it played out.
Watched the last night HBO Saturday tape and agreed with the experts that had Pacquiao tossing a near shutout.
Still, rating the likable Filipino above past welters is a bit of a stretch - not when former champions Ray "Sugar" Robinson, "Sugar" Ray Leonard to name only two are included.

Manny Pacquiao, Identity Theft... by Martin Wade

On the first week of November I went out to do my duty as an American citizen, and lost my damned wallet. Panic set in and I took all of the prudent measures to make sure my bank account wasn't emptied out. This is a fear we all have in today's age of information crimes, until one thing gave me the solace some of you are blessed enough NOT to have. Who the hell would want to be me? Whoever has my wallet is stuck with a license (featuring a disturbingly handsome man) and a bunch of plastic that won't buy the imposter anything but embarrassment. However, it is still a fear and I wish I'd never had to endure it all. Watching Manny Pacquiao beat the breaks and transmission off of Antonio Margarito got me to thinking...

Spadafora Punishes Hernandez Over Five...by Daniel Miltz @ringside Former Lightweight Champion and now junior welterweight, Paul Spadafora [45-0-1, 19 KOs] put an end to Alain Hernandez [18-9-2, 10 KOs] with strapping hooks and combos to the body and chops to the side of the head, over the completion of five vigorous rounds. Unfortunately, the 'Ring Doctor' after examining Hernandez stopped the fight as he sat on his stool and was not able to come out for round six. The blows to the body and head took its toll for the courageous Mexican fighter. Spadafora now is seeking bigger and better things as he is hoping to land a big major fight next year.

Eromosole Albert Stops Zamora, Remains IBO Latin America Champion...

Defending champion Eromosole Albert kept the Latin America IBO belt in Florida as promised.

The victory over an overwhelmed Joaquin Zamora came 2:11 into the 9th round. The defending champion dominated throughout the match, and had won every round coming into what turned out to be the last round of the fight.
Zamora suffered a cut on top of his head and another one above his right eye, both cuts were the result of accidental headbutts.

The Best of Enemies: Haye Demolishes a Sorry Audley Harrison in 3... by Stephen Jones

David Haye and Audley Harrison fenced and postured for a full 2 rounds, landing an atrocious 9 clean shots until finally in the middle of the third round David Haye delivered a retirement notice on Harrison's career. Haye opened up with an onslaught of 18 unanswered shots knocking Audley to the floor where he lay on his back for a full 9 seconds, narrowly avoiding being counted out only to be savagely attacked once again by the WBA holder, forcing the referee to step in and call time on a very poor and uneventful showing from a bone dry and frozen Harrison.

Ageless Wonder Glen Johnson Impresses Super Six Fighters with KO Victory Over Allan Green...

Glen Johnson stunning eighth-round knockout victory over Allan Green Saturday night on SHOWTIME not only earned him three points and the final spot in the Super Six World Boxing Classic Semifinals but the respect from the other entrants in the Super Six.

Although the scoring was close, the 41-year-old Jamaican-born Johnson (51-14-2, 35 KOs), of Miami, Fla., pushed the pace and consistently delivered the heavier shots throughout. Making his first start at 168 pounds in 10 years, Johnson finished Green (29-3, 20 KOs) of Tulsa, Okla., with a combination culminated by a vicious right hand 36 seconds into the round.

Lopez Stops Marquez in Eight, Retains Featherweight Title...by George Elsasser

Showtime Saturday Special, with undefeated power punching Juanma Lopez defending his WBO Featherweight bauble against past Bantam-Super Bantam champion Rafael Marquez, more than lived up to expectations.

Took no more than opening round with both having it in feeling out mode, for things to heat up come stanza two - the bigger, younger, natural in size featherweight Lopez grabs the round looking in control.

Juan Manuel Lopez and Rafael Marquez Conference Call Highlights....

Puerto Rican superstar and WBO featherweight world champ Juan Manuel Lopez and Mexican legend and future Hall of Famer Rafael Marquez participated in an international media conference call on Monday to discuss their upcoming rivalry fight on Saturday, Nov. 6, LIVE on SHOWTIME from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

One of boxing's fastest rising stars, Lopez (29-0, 26 KOs), of Caguas, Puerto Rico, will attempt to make the third defense of his WBO crown.  The 27-year-old champion has registered an astounding 26 knockouts in 29 professional fights. The power-punching southpaw will now face the toughest and most important test of his career in Marquez, a battle-tested great with a relentless desire to win at all costs.

Here's what the fighters had to say...

Bob Arum: "...A Full, Complete and Outstanding Night of Boxing" November 6th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas...

Bob Arum said Top Rank's fight card featuring Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Rafael Marquez "got bigger and more complete" with the addition of the big Super Six fight matching Allan Green vs Glen Johnson on November 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"I want to thank Lou DiBella and Showtime for adding such a splendid fight," Arum said. "This will insure that the television audience and the fans purchasing tickets at the MGM will get a full, complete and outstanding night of boxing."

Rafael Marquez in Full Training for Juanma Challenge...

Two-division world champion RAFAEL MARQUEZ took his training up a notch last week as he prepares for his world title battle against undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez on Saturday, November 6, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The rumble between the pride of Mexico and Puerto Rico, respectively, will be televised live by SHOWTIME Championship Boxing.

Judah Split Decision Win Less Than Stellar... by George Elsasser

Last noche HBO "BAD" with Brownsville, Brooklyn's Zab Judah challenging undefeated Argentine, Lucas Matthysse was less than stellar - Zab gets the split-verdict that went 114-113 twice while Matthysse caught one judge's eye with a 114-113 of his own. The prize the NABO minor league strap.

Lefty vs. orthodox, with both looking to counter, normally results in a snoozer - and for most of the first half this one qualified for yawn provoker recognition.

Zab Judah Wins Split Decision Over Matthysse... by Daniel Miltz

The former undisputed welterweight champion came back from a knockdown late and won a split decision that was decided by one point on all three of the cards. Two judges scored it 114-113 for Judah, and the third judge scored it 114-113 for Matthysse. I had it 114-113 Matthysse. It was a good action packed fight. So who's next for Zab? I think Kaiser Mabuza!

Garcia Claims Split Decision - Geles - Soto a Standoff... by George Elsasser

It was by chance last noche, to stumble onto FOX Net @ 11PM to catch the start of an interesting twin-bill of furious fisticuffs from south of the border down Cartagena, Colombia way - that was the good - followed by the mediocre third men in  charge, and worse yet the ugly, come the commentator department.
But first, the ring action - and without it from start to finish scorching rounds in both contests, I surely would have packed it in before the show went full cycle at 0115 hours this early Sunday morn.
Opens with Jesus Geles, tall, lean Colombian facing tough Puerto Rican Omar Soto - surprise seeing Geles having the better while comfortable working both on the inside as well as long range against a shorter Soto.

Rodriguez Prevails Over McGirt - TKO9... by George Elsasser

Friday SHO-BOX offering from Fargo, North Dakota featured unbeaten Edwin Rodriguez facing James McGirt Jr.  in the main bout with the vacant WBC-USNBC s/middle minor league strap the bounty.

McGirt arrives at 22-2, 11 KOs to the touted undefeated Rodriguez at 16 wins with dozen stoppages - and on paper enjoying height/reach edge along with working from the port side.

Still, the Sho-Box voices at ringside Curt Menefee & Steve Farhood leaned heavily toward the hard punching transplanted Dominican over the relocated Long Islander now calling Vero Beach, Florida home.

"Capitale Punishment II" Results: Teron Puts Away Hope in 4...

On Friday night, before a packed house at the beautiful Capitale in downtown New York City, Star Boxing and The Empire, presented "Capitale Punishment II," a thrilling six bout card, headlined by the Bronx's three-time NY Golden Gloves Champion, Jorge "The Truth" Teron, taking on James Hope.

Teron came out tentatively in the first, looking to use his reach and establish his jab against the smaller Hope.

Vazquez Beats Hernandez to Retain WBO Title...
Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. stopped Mexico's Ivan Hernandez in the 11th round Saturday night to retain his WBO super-bantamweight title. In the second defense of his 122-pound title, Vazquez gradually wore down Hernandez during the second half of their bout at the Silver Spurs Arena.
Vazquez hurt a bruised Hernandez midway through the 10th with a solid right that snapped the challenger's head and took away any possible  comeback. Vazquez followed Hernandez to the ropes and scored repeatedly with combinations to the head and body.

Tarver Heavyweight Return a Walk in the Park Laugh...by George Elsasser

The Showtime Sho-Box FNF offering from outta town Buffalo Casino @ Miami, Oklahoma, delivered us late nite fight fans the return of past light heavyweight title holder Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver in role of heavyweight.

The opposition, a carefully selected gimme named Nagy Aguilera, a transplanted Dominican from Newburgh, N.Y. - somehow was introduced as from the Bronx, N.Y. - and with it the 16-4 with 11 KOs was likely a Sho-Box ploy to invoke memories of past Bronx stars such as Roland LaStarza, Jake "Bronx Bull" LaMotta and others.

"Bring on the Pain" Results...

In the night's main event, Bakersfield's Michael Dallas Jr. improved to 16-0-1 with a second-round knockout of Lenin Arroyo of Miami (20-14-1) in a scheduled eight-round welterweight bout.  The fight was halted via the three-knockdown rule at the 1:30 mark.

In the co-main event, Shawn Estrada, who calls Hanford and East Los Angeles home, was declared the winner of a scheduled four-round super middleweight fight against Nathan Bedwell of Jackson, Tenn., 28 seconds into the first round.

Coleman, Marquez Sparkle with Stanza Three KOs... by George Elsasser

Friday night Showtime Sho-Box card from Santa Ynez, California sprung a couple of surprises - not that both favorites came out on top but in how they played out.

Show opens with scheduled eight round lightweight affair with undefeated Archie Ray Marquez facing veteran Juan Santiago -  Marquez the age 22 touted one and Santiago age 25 the veteran of 18 prior kept appointments.

Surprise numero uno is seeing both fighters answering the opening bell while opting to work at close quarters - and after three minutes of spirited action maybe Marquez has the edge.

Tim Coleman and Archie Ray Marquez Both Score 3rd Round KOs Friday on ShoBox...
Friday's ShoBox: The New Generation fights were scheduled for 20 rounds, but prospects Tim Coleman and Archie Ray Marquez only needed a total of six to score quick KOs on SHOWTIME from Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif.

In the main event, Coleman (18-1-1, 5 KOs) was aggressive, scoring a knockdown in the second round before landing a brutal uppercut that KO'd two-time Venezuelan Olympian Patrick "El Elegante" Lopez (20-3, 12 KOs) at 2:13 of the third round.

In Friday's co-feature, Marquez (10-0, 1 ND, 7 KOs) was equally aggressive in his own third round knockout of Juan "Chago" Santiago (13-5-1, 8 KOs) at 0:11.

Sugar Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora fought to a 12-round draw in a junior middleweight bout at the Staples Center, Los Angeles... by Daniel Miltz

In a kind of dull fight, Mosley in the beginning rounds had a hard time landing good solid punches as Mora's defensive posture was rule. The former 154-pound titleholder Mora always quickly maneuvering out of his path and clinching whenever possible when Mosley was working the inside. Sugar won the punch stat total but the 'Latin Snake' landed cleaner shots to rack up some rounds. DRAW???

Hernandez TKOs Anchondo, Cuban Franco Outlasts Game Hilario...

World-ranked welterweight Freddy "El Riel" Hernandez is one step closer to a future world title shot against Andre Berto following his convincing fourth-round TKO victory over Mike Anchondo on ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME Friday night from Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino.
A poised and relaxed Hernandez controlled the entire scheduled 10-round welterweight fight, registering an early fourth round-knockout with a "cannonball blast," right hand shot according to SHOWTIME's expert analyst Steve Farhood that all but ended the fight. "This was a sales job for Hernandez," Farhood added later. "He'll probably be in line for a title shot with Berto next."

Andrade Crushes Saunders, Remains Unbeaten...

Earlier tonight in New Hampshire, highly touted undefeated jr. middleweight prospect, Demetrius Andrade improved to (11-0, 8 KO's) destroying Dave Saunders in the main event bout of of the evening on the annual "The Fight to Educate" card at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The fight, Andrade's first scheduled eight rounder, was presented by Star Boxing and Banner Promotions on the Gotham Boxing promoted card.

Just before the end of the second, Andrade unleashed a devastating combo that sent Saunders down and out face first. Saunders laid motionless for several minutes after, but thankfully was able to leave the ring by his own power. It was yet another spectacular performance for Andrade who will be back in action very soon as he looks to close 2010 with a bang.

Klitschko Remains Victorious... by Daniel Miltz

Klitschko retained his IBF, IBO, Ring, and WBO heavyweight titles when he stopped Samuel Peter in the 10th round by TKO. The fight was pretty much controlled by Wladimir Klitschko, it was different than their first fight in 2005, where Peter was able to knock Klitschko down three times in a much more competitive fight that Peter would lose on the scorecards.

Peter didn't offer any type of fight. He basically clinched up and looked tired throughout the fight. Wladimir systematically broke him down with his "jab and clinch" style until he dropped Peter in the 10th round with a combo causing the referee to stop the bout.

Alexander, Cloud Quickness Prevails in Title Defenses... by George Elsasser...

HBO Saturday night B.A.D. delivered a dandy championship twin-bill with favorites Tavoris Cloud and Devon Alexander prevailing over persistent challengers Glen Johnson and Andreas Kotelnik.
Action began with light heavies Cloud & Johnson for Cloud's IBF strap - it's all Cloud over most of the front side showing the far quicker of the two. Stanza five a Cloud triple left hook gets Johnson attention and late in the stanza it's a sneak right hand that has Johnson wobbly.
The old road warrior survives an early stanza six before countering effectively late in the round - continues during numero seven and the cool counterpunching Johnson has himself back to back winning rounds.
Johnson would have a good round nine with Cloud taking the stanza off - finally,  the run to the wire,  proverbial "championship" stanzas 10-11-12 saw Cloud having more in the tank for a winning defense.

Prescott in a Breeze; Lopez Blitzes Cuello in Three... by George Elsasser

The last evening ESPN FNF card from the UIC Pavilion at Chicago town spawned a couple gimmes in the feature pairing and semi-final mismatch.
Breides Prescott had himself a walk in the park, near whitewash in the main event, capping a one-sided decision with a stanza nine knockdown en route to  victory over hapless Harrison Cuello.
The official scoring saw it Prescott to the tune of 98-91, 99-90, 99-90 - my unofficial had it Prescott tossing a proverbial shutout 100-89 in points and 10-0 in rounds.
Jury still out on where the age 27 prospect fits in the hotbed of junior welters - entering the Cuello bout he was number 12 under the WBA listings - just a notch below Patrick Lopez at eleven, who sparkled last night in round three stoppage of unbeaten Prenice Brewer.

Chris Martin and Lateef Kayode Score Victories in Minnesota... by Kenny Perrault

Chris Martin out worked rising prospect Chris Avalos last night in Hinckley, MN.  Martin was the much busier fighter through out the ten round bout landing flush shots to the head and body. Avalos' offensive attacks looked solid but were few and far between. When the final bell rang it was Martin's hand raised in victory via split decision with the scores of 98-92 Martin, 97-93 Martin, and 98-94 Avalos.

ESPN FNF Spawns Upsets: Sierra Over George, Theophane Nips Rodriguez... by George Elsasser

Last night's ESPN2 card from Buffalo Run Casino at Miami, Oklahoma spawned a pair of "upsets" with Ashley Theophane claiming a majority decision win over favored Delvin Rodriguez in the main bout- and Francisco Sierra scoring a stanza seven technical decision over a touted Don George.

Opens with undefeated Chicago town Super Middleweight Don George (20-0-1, 17 KOs)  in with young, age 22, Francisco Sierra (21-3, 20 KOs); of south of the border down Mexico way.

Round one sees both fighters in search of early knockout - action give and take affair with the Mexican having the edge - late in the stanza it's George wobbled by a solid left-hook.

The visiting Sierra continues with the advantage over numero tres - key is a stronger chin and a power left hook that quickly answers the George right hands.

Shumenov Retains WBA Light Heavyweight Bauble via Decision Over Uzelkov... by George Elsasser

Last night, the ESPN2 kiddie channel delivered us fight fans a couple of strangers in the night for our entertainment. In one corner we get defending WBA Light Heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov defending against its #2 ranked Vyacheslav Uzelkov.
Only in America, or rather, under the today four sanctioning bodies system, do we have a defending champion with a ten bout job application facing a numero dos challenger arriving undefeated at 22-0, 15 KOs.
Then the opening bell with Shumenov the busier of the two over most of the stanza - suddenly, like a bolt out of the proverbial blue it's a Uzelkov counter left hook finding the sweet spot and the champ is down. No serious damage done and the kid from Kazakhstan closes the stanza on the offense.

Showtime's Saturday San Juan Special a Crowd Pleaser: Lopez Short Circuits Concepcion in 2, Donaire Halts Marquez in 8... by George Elsasser

Sometimes we fight fans get lucky - Saturday noche down San Juan, Puerto Rico way was one of them times - a twin-bill of hot title action.

On that note, let's go to the unbeaten hometown favorite from Caguas, Juan Manuel Lopez  AKA "Juanma" defending his WBO Featherweight strap against young at 22, veteran of 33 kept appointments Bernabe Concepcion of the Philippines.

Opening stanza and it's Concepcion down courtesy of Lopez power left hand - no sooner on his feet it's Lopez quickly on top of the Filipino with a combination at close quarters - bingo! - a Concepcion counter left hook and Lopez is down.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Wins Unanimous Decision Over John Duddy... by Lem Satterfield
Chavez and Duddy waged war even through the first five rounds, this, before Duddy shook him and stood him up with a left-right combination in the sixth.
"I knew that I hurt him. Unfortunately, I wasn't good enough to finish him off. He had good pressure, and he hits solidly with both hands, you know. A very good kid," said Duddy. "I thought that it was a very good fight. I came here and I tried to do what I thought that I could do. I wish that I could have gone better."

Ward Retains WBA Super Middleweight Title - Tosses Shutout Over Green... by George Elsasser

Saturday night Showtime Special from Oracle Arena at Oakland, California had the attention of fight fans with undefeated local Andre Ward defending WBA Super Middleweight strap against veteran Allan Green - Ward also looking to grab the Second Stage top slot in the Showtime Super Tourney.
Started on the slow side over stanzas one and two with both seemingly playing it close to the vest - then numero tres with Ward on the offense while working at close quarters. Green in no mood to swap with Ward, who wasn't delivering heavy duty, but the far busier.
Ward continued the brawling, mauling approach on the inside and Green unable to get off anything resembling a counter - nothing pretty but clearly in charge.

Molina Stops Lundy in Eleven - Grabs NABO Strap... by George Elsasser
ESPN tossed up a dandy minor league (NABO) lightweight title challenge between action club fighters unbeaten Hank Lundy of Philadelphia, and once beaten John Molina of Covington, California.
Lundy , a southpaw, jumped out of the gate the quicker of the two with assorted   unorthodox moves that saw him grabbing the early stanzas over the taller orthodox in style opponent.
Still, while Molina was having trouble getting off over them four opening stanzas, he never gave the impression he was in trouble - even with opponent "Hammering Hank" in control in the scoring department.

Solis Strong Finish Too Much for Ortiz... by George Elsasser

FOX Sports Net delivered a belated return of pair of former light-flyweight title holders - was back in 2006 that Solis had stopped Ortiz in eleven stanzas.

On Saturday noche it was Solis coming on strong as early as round three after using opening stanzas one and two for note taking  - it would then begin a long night for the age 33 Ortiz that had lost two of last three outings.

The IBF number one rated Solis displayed the far better skills while countering the plodding Ortiz with effective jabs and left-hooks - the right hand counter would eventually get itself a wake-up-call as late as stanza nine just prior to the final candle ten.

The Solis eye-catcher during numero nine arrived following a point deduction from referee "Jerky-Jay" Nady - charges Solis a point for shoving Ortiz to the canvas. No further ludicrous action with Ortiz landing on the canvas again courtesy of Solis right hand.

Hopkins Coasts to Decision Win Over Arnaoutis... by George Elsasser

Hopkins arrives on a March 2010 decision win over club fighter Jesse Feliciano who had arrived for paycheck after KO losses to Kermit Cintron, Andre Tsurkan, Carlos Quintana.

Then the opening bell with Arnaoutis having slight edge in a slow paced feeling out stanza - from that point on it would be all Hopkins who enjoyed the size advantage.
