Frenchman Brahim
Asloum won the a world title in his third attempt, moving
down to light fly, when he outscored Argentinean Juan
Carlos Reveco this past weekend in Le Cannet. Asloum thus
became the first Frenchman to win both an Olympic Gold and
a World title in the pros. French President Nicolas Sarkozy has sent his congratulations to Asloum. It was an
important win for French boxing after several (Mormeck,
M´Baye, Asloum twice, etc.) setbacks. According
to l´Equipe,
Reveco was
forced to shed an amazing eleven kilos (about
24 lbs) in the six weeks leading up to the fight.
Comebacking
Alejandro Lakatus is now down to light heavy again and
goes for the vacant Spanish title December 14 against Juan
Carlos Muntaner December 14 in Madrid.
Italian Boxe
Loreni had to cancel its planned November 30 promotion but
will stage a show December 12 in Brescia with Fabio Tuiach
vs Enis Boussandel for the IBF Mediterranean cruiserweight
title on top. Welter Leonardu Bundu fights Romanian
spoiler Gheorge Danut in the chief support.
French EuroProm
doesn't get many EuroSport dates anymore but when they do
it's always solid shows. December 18 in Frangy they
headline with jr. middles Sebastian Madani squaring off
against Spaniard Javi Vega in a WBC Mediterranean bout and
capable veteran Alban Mothie fighting Damien Bertu for the
vacant French 154 lbs title.
The show in
Izegem, Belgium, will not be headlined by Ismail Abdoul,
who reportedly already is doing time and will be off the
scene for a few few years now. Instead Hungarian jr middle
Attila Kovacs will face Kenyan Stanley Katibi in a
scheduled eight-rounder.
Hungarian cruiser
Gyorgi Hidvegi defends the WBF title against French champ
Christophe Dettinger December 15 in Dessau. Russian heavy
giant Evgeny Orlov appears on the undercard and faces

Thomas Ulrich's
