October 19, Berlin, Germany:
Cuban heavyweight Juan Carlos Gomez won the WBC International title and beat Oliver McCall the second time they fought as well in the headliner of Arena Box Promotion's show at the Estrel Congress Center.

Gomez used his slick southpaw moves almost to perfection and at times did a number on McCall, who admitted that opponents like Gomez were all wrong for him. "He´s slick, awkward, moves well. It was a risky fight, I knew that all along."

Only in the tenth did McCall appear to get through with some clean punches that shook the Cuban but Gomez came right back in the eleventh and was quite impressive - especially when one takes a look at what is out there in the heavyweight division.

The fight was scored 116-112, 118-110 and 118-110. There were no knockdowns.

German heavy Steffen Kretschmann, 10-0 (9), won clearly over huge Corey Sanders over eight and will go for the national title.

Heavyweight Odlanier Solis looked very sharp in taking apart American Jeremy Bates stopping him in the second.

Domenico Spada won the WBC International middleweight title with a first round stoppage of Alpaslan Aguzum. Aguzum was floored three times.

Sinan Samil Sam won the vacant WBC Mediterranean heavyweight title with clear win over Croatian spoiler Ivica Perkovic but failed to impress.

At junior lightweight Yuriorkis Gamboa, 6-0, took apart Swede Samuel Kebede stopping him in the second round. Gamboa took his time, picked his punches and looked every bit
like the real thing.

Ageless Italian veteran Silvio Branco won the vacant WBC International light heavyweight  title with a ninth round technical decision over Brazilian Peter Venancio. Branco was well ahead in the judges' cards when accidentally cut after a clash of heads.

Goran Gogic won every round against Oczan Cetinkaya in a six-rounder between German-based heavyweights.

News: Japanese newspaper Japan Today announced an interesting doubleheader at bantamweight, featuring both the WBC and WBA champs for January 10 in Osaka. WBC ruler Hozumi Hasegawa will face Italian Simone Maludrottu while WBA king Wladimir Sidorenko will defend his title against Japanese challenger Nobutu Ikehara.

Spanish Stock Promotions will stage an interesting show November 23 in Andoain. Kofi Jantuah will face Ruben Diaz at middleweight in an IBF International fight. Turkish jr. welter Selcuk Aydin is in against Sasha Shnip and middleweight Mustapha Karagol will square off against Laurent Gomis.

Lorenzo Di Giacomo and Mouhamed Ali Ndiaye fight for the vacant EU supermiddle title December 26 in Montesilvano, Italy, with Rosanna Conti Cavini promoting.

Belgian light heavyweight Ismail Abdoul fights again at cruiserweight next Saturday against Yoan Pablo Hernandez on the undercard of Byrd vs Povetkin. This might be the last we see of Abdoul for some time as he is now facing three years in jail.

Ex-EBU heavy champ Wladimir Virchis, ringside in Berlin, fights a non-title ten-rounder November 17 in Magdeburg.
