WINKY WRIGHT SIGNS TO FIGHT TITO TRINIDAD

By Tom Dickey

Undisputed super welterweight champion Winky Wright has signed to fight Felix "Tito" Trinidad, the potential date for the fight is May 14. Wright decided to take the fight when an extra million dollars was added to his purse and will move up to middleweight (160 lbs.) to fight Trinidad.

Wright, who was already looking to move up in weight, is coming off back to back wins over Shane Mosley, and will now get the big money shot he has craved for a long time. Trinidad is coming off a KO win over Ricardo Mayorga in his first fight since coming out of retirement,  but will see a completely different style of fighter when he fights Winky.

The date for the fight is scheduled to be May 14th,  a site has yet to be determined; New York City and Las Vegas seem to be the front runners to host the event which will be televised on HBO pay per view.
