Boxing action returns to the Pechanga Resort & Casino on Friday night
with a very solid card that will be televised as part of Showtime's
ShoBox
series. In the main event, the NABF Super Flyweight title will
be on the line when Kahren Harutyunyan takes on Nonito Donaire. Harutyunyan hails from Glendale, California
and is trained by Freddie Roach. Harutyunyan is a hard
nosed bull who is used to training with guys like
Brian Viloria at Roach's Wild Card Gym. He hopes to
add the NABF title on Friday night, and hopes that it
will be a stepping stone to even bigger things. Nonito Donaire is no soft guy, he hails from San
Leandro, California by way of the Philippines. He comes
in with a record of 13-1 with 8KOs. Like Harutyunyan,
Donaire hopes a win on Friday night on ShoBox will
vault him up the rankings.
In the co-feature, Tyrone Harris of
Lansing, Michigan will take on Israel Hernandez of
Mazatlan, Mexico in a eight round junior lightweight
bout. Harris has been impressive in his young career,
compiling a 14-0 record with 12KOs, but Hernandez will
be his toughest test to date. Hernandez will be
fighting for the first time in the United States, and
comes in with a solid 11-2-1 record. This fight will
be the opening bout for the televised portion of the
card.
In the non televised portion of the card, former
WBA junior welterweight titlist Vivian Harris will be
making his return to the ring. Harris is coming off
getting upset for his title by Carlos Maussa, and
will start his comeback trail on Friday night. The
Brooklyn native Harris will be taking on a guy who
knows a little bit about pulling off an upset. Harris
will be taking on Marteze Logan, a veteran coming off
a big upset of previously unbeaten Americo Santos in
his last fight on ShoBox. Logan has a record of 22-19-2, but is known for his toughness, and his
willingness to take any fight provided. The native of Covington, Tennessee also has a draw against Hector
Camacho Jr. He has been in the ring with many of the
top young 140 pounders on the ShoBox series including
Paul Williams and Mike Arnaoutis.
Also on the card will be a 4 round junior
middleweight female bout between Lisa Holewyne of
Houston, and Tonya Gallegos of Denver. Holewyne comes
in with a record of 24-17-2, while Gallegos will enter
with a record of 3-4. Also scheduled to fight on the
card is big time prospect Nick Casal of Niagara
Falls, New York. Casal has been impressive with a 11-0
record with 10 KOs, and is currently managed by Shelly
Finkel. Casal's opponent has yet to be determined.
The Pechanga Resort & Casino will be the site on
Friday night for this solid card. Doors open at 5, and
tickets can be purchased at the Pechanga Box office.
This card is being presented by Gary Shaw promotions
along with Ringside ticket.
