ROCKY JUAREZ SET TO RETURN FRIDAY MARCH 4TH ON ESPN MAIN EVENTS SPECIAL

By Tom Dickey

Featherweight phenom Rocky Juarez returns to the ring on Friday night. It will be the first fight for Juarez since knocking out ex-champ Guty Espadas Jr. back in December. Juarez is one of the most talked about young fighters on the Boxing scene. He has been highly billed since bringing back a silver medal from Sydney in 2000. Juarez has lived up to his hype so far as he has compiled a 22-0 record. Juarez lately has displayed power alongside his workmanlike efforts. Juarez has a strong left hook, along with a bruising body attack. He displayed this power in his last fight with Espadas with a devastating 2nd round KO over an ex world champ. Juarez has been moving up in competition each fight. In his last two fights he has wins over Espadas, and Zahir Raheem. He hopes to continue up the ladder as he closes in on a world title fight.

In Rocky's way is tough veteran Juan Carlos "Ranchero" Ramirez. Ramirez has a 34-7 record and has been in with some of the best. He has fought the likes of Luisito Espinosa, Erik Morales, and Acelino Freitas. In his last fight he lost a controversial split decision to Carlos Hernandez. Ramirez is looking for an upset that could springboard him up the rankings. Juarez is currently ranked #1 by both the IBF and WBC, and knows that a world title fight is close, but Ramirez is not somebody who should be overlooked. This fight will be the main event from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California on Friday night. The fight will be promoted by Main Events, and televised on ESPN.

The co-feature will be a 12 round IBF Bantamweight eliminator between Jorge Lacierva and Cruz Carbajal. Both fighters are tough hard punching fighters looking to close in on another title shot. Lacierva is coming off a draw against Armando Guerrero in his last fight. Lacierva is 26-5-5 with 18KOs, and is highly regarded in the bantamweight division. Carbajal is the former WBO Bantamweight champion. He just lost that belt in his last fight to Ratanachi Vorapin. Carbajal has a record of 24-12-1 with 20 KOs, but don't let the record fool you. Carbajal can flat out punch, and has fought some tough foes. He has beaten Danny Romero, Steve Dotse, and Hugo Dianzo. Carbajal was on a roll before his last fight having won six in a row. This fight has the makings of a slugfest.
