BRADLEY BANGS HIS WAY TO A TECHNICAL DECISION VICTORY

By Tom Dickey

Timothy Ray Bradley stayed unbeaten and nabbed his 10th career win with a 9 round technical decision victory over Jorge Padilla from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California on Monday night. The bout was halted at the end of round 9, due to two cuts on each of Padilla's eyes. The bout was the 10 round  main event of a five bout "Path to Glory" card presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions.

Bradley came out early and established what he would do for the whole fight: go hard to the body, and land a consistent overhand right. Padilla was game throughout the fight, and probably gave Bradley his toughest test of his young career. In the second round, Padilla came alive a little bit. Padilla did good working when the fight was in close as he was able to counter Bradley well. The one knock on Bradley in the fight was that there were some cracks in his defense. Bradley did well in this round when he stayed outside, but Padilla excelled in close.

Padilla stayed competitive in round three, but Bradley seemed to land a little more this round. One thing that Padilla would display in this fight was a good chin. The fourth round was a very exciting round fought at close quarters. But, on this occasion Bradley did better while in close as he dug hooks to Padilla's body.  He also started bleeding from the nose in this round. The fifth round was the best round of the night for Padilla, who did real good work while in close. He was able to counter Bradley well with 1-2 combinations, and was able to corner Bradley and land some right hands.

Bradley took the fight back outside in round six, and was successful in doing so. Bradley would have solid rounds in rounds 7 and 8. He again went hard to the body, and on a number of occasions Padilla could be seen grimacing as Bradley dug in with hooks. At this point in the fight it appeared that Padilla was wearing down, and his face was also marred the cuts on his eyes. Bradley opened round nine strong with a strong left hook which stunned Padilla, but the gutsy Padilla hung in. The crowd even began chanting Padilla's name in appreciation of his heart, but Bradley continued to bang away up and downstairs. At the end of the ninth round it was determined that the fight would be stopped due to the cuts on Padilla's eyes. Since they were said to be caused from head butts the fight went to the cards.

Bradley won easily by scores of 90-81,90-81, and 89-82. BRC scored the fight 89-82 for Bradley. Another solid win for Bradley, who continues to rise in the junior welterweight division. Bradley improves to 10-0 with the win, while Padilla falls to 6-3.

In the co-feature Horatio Garcia upset previously unbeaten Jaudiel Zepeda by a split decision in a six round junior middleweight match up. Zepeda of Indio,California came into the fight with a perfect 8-0, 8 KOs record, but had never fought in the United States, and on Monday night he got a rude welcome.

The fight was a close one as throughout the fight Zepeda concentrated on the body, and was able to land some hard hooks to the body. Meanwhile, Garcia was countering very well, and landing more upstairs. The fight came down to Garcia outworking Zepeda, and landing more shots. They went to the cards, and the scores varied widely. Garcia won by split decision by the scores of 60-54,56-58,and 59-55. With the win, Garcia of Sacramento improves to 14-5-1, while Zepeda falls to 8-1.

In a scheduled six round middleweight bout, James Parison survived a knockdown and went on to knockout Ramon Espinoza in the third round. A very exciting fight that really caught fire in the third round. Early in the round, Espinoza caught Parison with a hard straight right. Parison beat the count and came back and dropped Espinoza with his own right hand. Espinoza beat the count, but Parison came back and dropped Espinoza again with a right cross. As Espinoza tried to beat the count, referee Raul Caiz Jr. halted the bout. Parison wins by TKO at 2:12 of round three. Parison of San Diego improves to 4-0, while Espinoza of Pacoima, California drops to 6-5.

In a very exciting super middleweight bout, Danny Garcia scored a come from behind TKO victory of Cromwell Gordon. Gordon dominated the first two rounds, picking Garcia apart with combinations, and it looked like an upset was brewing. It got better for Gordon in round three as he dropped Garcia with a right cross. The problem for Gordon was that he exhausted himself in trying to finish Garcia off in the third round. Garcia needing a KO to win, got just what he needed in the final round. At this point, Gordon was totally exhausted, and looking sloppy from fatigue. Garcia jumped on him, desperately trying to finish Gordon. Gordon tried valiantly to survive the round, but late in the round Garcia cornered him and threw a barrage of shots.

Gordon stumbled back into the ropes and referee Ray Corona stopped the fight. Gordon was defenseless as he could barely hold his arms up. A hard fought come from behind win for Garcia. Garcia scores a TKO win at 2:30 of the final round. Garcia of Pomona, California improves to 5-0, while Gordon of Los Angeles, falls to 1-4. In a four round super middleweight bout, Ivan Stovall made quick work of Ruben Loustaunau, scoring a 29 second first round knockout. Stovall landed a very mild left hand, which dropped Loustaunau. To the shock of the crowd, Loustaunau couldn't beat the count. Just like that Stovall had probably what will be the easiest win of his career. Stovall wins by KO at 0:29 of round 1. Stovall of Pomona,California improves to 3-0, while Loustaunau of Barstow,California falls to 0-1.

This wrapped up a very exciting five bout "Path to Glory" card from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario,California. This was the final Thompson Boxing Promotions card of 2005, their next  show will take place on February 17th, and it will be hosted by the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario.
