Former world title challenger Carlos Bojorquez put an end to a close fight with Ryan Davis with a 7th round TKO. Bojorquez would end up dropping Davis 3 times, twice in the 7th round en route to his 25th career victory. The fight was the main event on Thompson Boxing's "Path to Glory" card from the Omega Products International in Corona, California. Bojorquez started the fight off with a bang and ended it with a bang, but in between got a tough fight from Ryan Davis of Chicago.

Bojorquez, usually a slow starter, was just the opposite on Friday night. Bojorquez about 30 seconds into the opening round landed a crisp left hook to the cheek of Davis which sent Davis down. Davis beat the count and tried to stay away, but Bojorquez would later wobble Davis with a straight right. Davis survived the round and came out better in round two. Davis did a good job of staying away from Bojorquez and moving consistently. Davis didn't land a lot, but did enough to probably win the round, and kept the charging Bojorquez off of him. Round three was one of Davis's better rounds. He continued to move well, but now started to land a little more often. He was able to land a short left hook, which would be his most consistent punch of the night.

Bojorquez started to cut the ring off on Davis in round 4. After shutting down Davis' movement Bojorquez was able to land some good shots upstairs and down, as well as  some solid uppercuts. Round five opened with a head butt, which opened up a cut over Bojorquez right eye. This seemed to infuriate Carlos as he stalked Davis with bad intentions. But, Davis did a good job of staying away and landing his left hook. Davis continued to box smartly in round six as he jabbed and stayed away. Davis did a good job of coming inside and landing and then getting out of Dodge. Bojorquez might have stole the round as he closed with an excellent four punch combo.

At this point the fight appeared very close, possible going either way until Bojorquez changed any doubts in round seven. Almost immediately to start the round, Bojorquez jumped on Davis and landed an excellent overhand right which stuns Davis. Bojorquez then cornered Davis and followed up the overhand right with a left-right combo which sent Davis down to a knee. Davis beat the count, but Bojorquez jumped back on him with a flurry until Davis dropped to a knee. As Davis stood up, referee David Denkin waved off the fight. Bojorquez wins by TKO at 1:03 of round seven. A very good and close fight gets flipped upside down by Bojorquez in round seven. Bojorquez improves to 25-7-6, while Davis falls to 19-4-2.

There were four other fights on the Thompson "Path to Glory" card. Thompson's own Timothy Ray Bradley looked very impressive again, winning a shutout unanimous decision over journeyman Juan Yoani Cervantes. Bradley punished Cervantes over six rounds, and had him hurt on several occasions, but chose to let him hang around. It looked as if Bradley was going to take Cervantes' head off in round 1. Early in the round, Bradley landed a beautiful, crisp, overhand right on the chin of Cervantes, which buckled Cervantes' legs. Bradley then jumped on his stunned opponent and unleashed away until Cervantes went down. Cervantes got up wobbly, but amazingly survived the round.

Bradley kept applying punishment in the second round, crashing overhand rights along with left hooks. Cervantes showed a little life in round three as he was able to counter Bradley a bit. Bradley had a tendency to drop his right hand when he threw his left hook, and a couple of times Cervantes noticed this and landed a left hook of his own.  But, late in the round Bradley landed a hard right cross which again wobbled Cervantes. Bradley toyed around a little bit in round four, but went both up and downstairs and landed some solid overhand rights. Bradley extended the beatdown into round five, as he again wobbled Cervantes with a right-left combo, But, again Bradley seems content on extending the fight, instead of finishing it.

The final round was more of the same and as the fight went to the cards, Bradley won by scores of 60-53 on all three judges cards. Another solid outing for Bradley, who improves to 8-0, while Cervantes falls to 11-17-2.

In other action, Enrique Quevedo of Hanford, California won a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Cruz of Los Angeles in a four round bantamweight bout. Quevedo was able to stalk and just overpower Cruz, who tried to use movement, but wasn't successful enough in doing so. Quevedo improves to 1-1, while Cruz falls to 0-2.

Quevedo's twin brother Daniel fought Missael Nunez to a six round draw. Quevedo suffered a bad cut over his right eye from a head butt in round two, and seemed bothered by for the next two rounds. The fight was a back and forth fight fought at close quarters. The judges' decision of a draw was no surprise, as this fight was truly close. Quevedo goes to 2-0-1, while Nunez goes to 4-4-2.

Exciting flyweight Jose Albuquerque got back on the winning path with a six round points win over Salvador Rosales. Albuquerque was the aggressor throughout the fight, and was unleashing some furious 6-8 punch combos at times. Most of the fight was fought in close quarters as expected. Albuquerque got hit a lot, but dished out more. With the win, Albuquerque of Glendale, California improves to 5-1, while Rosales of Long Beach falls to 2-7.

This wrapped up another exciting night of Boxing under the stars from the sold out outdoor venue of the Omega Products International in Corona, California. This "Path to Glory" card was promoted by Thompson Boxing Promotions. Their next card will be on September 23rd, also from the Omega Products International in Corona.
