BAZAN POUNDS OUT A UNANIMOUS DECISION OVER CAMPOS

Cesar Bazan won a tough unanimous decision victory on Friday night over Francisco Campos in the main event from the Hawthorne Race Track in Cicero, Illinois. Bazan was looking for his fifth straight win, but had a tough 17-1-1 fighter in front of him in Campos. In the first two rounds of the fight Bazan established his best punch of the fight, the left hook to the body. Campos was more active in the first two rounds, but was slightly less accurate. Like most of the rounds in the fight, the first two rounds were tight, with a slight edge to Bazan.

Campos had a good round in round three. Campos landed a good overhand right early in the round, and used good head movement throughout the round. Bazan was more active in the fourth round, as once again he was able to land good body shots. Bazan opened round five with a good left uppercut to the chin of Campos. Campos was a little more active for the remainder of the round, and was able to land some decent left hands. Midway through round six, Campos landed a good overhand right, but once again Bazan was able to land hooks to the body. Bazan was doing a little more damage then Campos, especially to the body throughout the fight.

Moving ahead to round eight, Bazan continued to land solid 1-2 combo lefts to the body. Campos was landing the occasional shot, but mostly missing with his shots. Campos came on strong in round nine, as he was able to land an effective jab. Campos finished the round with a light flurry to take the round. The final round was Bazan's best round of the fight. Bazan stunned Campos with a straight right hand to the chin midway into the round. Bazan threw effective combos to the head and body for the whole round, and easily took the round. The fight went to the scorecards, and Bazan won a unanimous decision by a surprisingly wide margin; the official scores read: 100-90, 99-91, and 97-93. BRC's unofficial score of the fight, 96-94 for Bazan, who seems to be on a solid comeback trail. He improved to 44-6-1, while Campos of Costa Rica, fell to 17-2-1.

There were two middleweight bouts on the undercard of the 8 Count Promotions card from Cicero, Illinois. Miguel Hernandez stopped Chris Holt by TKO at 2:04 of round 4. Hernandez dropped Holt three times en route to his win. Hernandez improved to 19-1, while Holt fell to 10-4. Mike "Midnight Stalker" Walker defeated David Estrada in a six round bout by unanimous decision. The fight featured two local products from the Chicago area, and Walker came in with a 4-0 record with 4 Kos. Walker pounded out a solid win improving to 5-0, while Estrada fell to 6-2.
