THOMPSON BOXING
PROMOTIONS PRESENTS 'PATH TO GLORY' ON NOVEMBER 21
By Tom Dickey
Thompson Boxing Promotions returns to the Doubletree
Hotel in Ontario, California for its final show of 2005. In the main event,
Thompson's own Timothy Ray Bradley will put his WBC youth welterweight title
on the line against Jorge Padilla. This will headline a six bout card on
Monday, November 21st.
Timothy Ray Bradley has been one of the more talked about young prospects
in the Southern California area. Trained by Joel Diaz, brother of Julio and
Antonio, Bradley is 9-0 with 5 KOs. Bradley combines speed, and slickness to
go along with power. In his last fight, Bradley took a major step up against
Francisco Rincon, who was 10-2, and Bradley had no problems as he cruised to a
shutout unanimous decision. On Monday night, Bradley will face another tough
test in Jorge Padilla, who is 6-2.
Also on the card will be junior welterweight Shaun "The Pitbull" Plessis
of Sparwood, British Columbia, who has won seven in a row and has a 15-2
record. Plessis is trained by Hall of Fame Trainer Jessie Reid, and has been
looking more impressive with each fight. He will take on Daniel Gonzalez of
Billings, Montana in an 8 round junior welterweight bout. Gonzalez comes in
with a record of 7-4-2.
There will be four other fights on the "Path to Glory" card. In a six
round middleweight bout, Jaudiel Zepeda will take on Horatio Garcia of
Sacramento. Zepeda will be fighting for the first time outside of Mexico, and
has an impressive record of 4-0 with 4 KOs. Garcia comes in with a 13-5, 1 KO
record, having fought the likes of Antonio Margarito, and has a victory over
Juan Carlos Rubio. In an intriguing four round super middleweight bout, Ramon
Espinoza of Pacoima, California will take on James Parison of San Diego.
Parison sports a 3-0 record, but takes on the upset minded Espinoza, who is
6-4. Espinoza has garnered a reputation for upsetting undefeated fighters, as
he has done this on two separate occasions.
