Golden Boy Promotions, one of the world’s
premier boxing promotional companies, today announced the
addition of former boxing manager and advisor, Robert Diaz
as a full time matchmaker.
Diaz, a San Francisco native of Mexican
decent and the former advisor to three-time World Champion
Marco Antonio Barrera and former manager to fighters such
as the undefeated Dominic Salcido and five-time World
Champion Manuel Medina, will, in addition to his
matchmaking duties, also spearhead Golden Boy’s recruiting
of the best young boxing talent worldwide.
“It’s a true pleasure to be a part of an
extremely successful company such as Golden Boy
Promotions,” said Diaz. “I am going to put all of my
effort and dedication into continuing to grow this
tremendous and internationally known company. Words
cannot express how grateful and honored I am to be a part
of the Golden Boy family.”
Eric Gomez, Vice President/Matchmaker of
Golden Boy Promotions added, “The addition of Robert is
very important to us because of his experience in
matchmaking as well as his ability to locate and develop
new talent. Since this ability is integral to the long
term success of any promotional company, Robert will be an
extremely valuable addition to our team.”
Diaz, who currently lives in Sacramento,
officially assumed his duties on October 12th,
and will relocate in January 2008 in order to work at
Golden Boy’s Los Angeles office.
