COTTO AVENGES OLYMPIC LOSS WITH NINTH ROUND TKO... by David Kolb, from MSG
When a shark smells blood, he goes after it. Tonight in the ninth round, the next big thing in boxing from Puerto Rico proved he is a major shark in the shark infested waters of the 140 pound weight class.

COTTO STOPS ABDULLAEV IN 9... by Elisa Harrison
The doctor is called to the corner in between rounds 8 and 9, and he doesn’t stop the fight, even though the challenger’s eye is completely shut and cut over the lid. There is a trickle of blood coming from the cut, and it is hard to believe the ringside physician is letting this one continue.

INDRI'S PICKS OF THE WEEKEND... by Mike Indri/RBF
Everyone knows how this one is supposed to end, and if Tyson doesn't beat McBride I don't know what "Team Tyson" can do next.

COTTO AND HBO WINNERS TONIGHT... by Kenny Perrault
Tonight boxing fans had two choices to pick from. The choices were a $45 PPV featuring Mike Tyson against Kevin McBride, which offered a less than stellar undercard  or  HBO's 'Boxing After Dark' series which had two well matched fights. I would like to think most real boxing fans, including yours truly, went with HBO.

CASAMAYOR - RAIYMKULOV BATTLE A STANDOFF... by George Elsasser
Over six candles my unofficial had it Casamayor 3-2-1 in rounds and 58-56 in points what with the gift 10-8 opening round - I would eventually have Casamayor pulling away over the championship rounds, but my scribbling is admittedly unofficial.

COTTO WIN NEAR VIRTUOSO IN  PERFORMANCE... by George Elsasser
The WBO 140 bauble was the prize, and the Ubekistan former Olympic medalist gave it an honest shot -  early on, Muhammad had a few moments, a right hand here, a left hook there, but could never take the controls from a seemingly future special one in Cotto.

COTTO REPRESENTS THE FUTURE OF BOXING... by Xavier 'El Mago' Cepeda
Fans have the option of paying the fee to see remnants of Iron Mike, or they can tune in to the future of boxing.  The future of all things lies in youth.  Not only does Cotto bring youth, but he also draws in young fans.  And young fans are what boxing’s future needs.  In with the new and out with the old!

COTTO ON THE VERGE OF BECOMING BOXING'S NEXT  SUPERSTAR... by Mike Indri/RBF
"Their isn’t a clear #1 at 140lbs., we all have the chance to be the best," acknowledged Cotto. "The best fighters in our division are fighting now.  Everyone thought Tszyu was #1, he isn’t anymore - we will see who is the best."

COTTO vs ABDULLAEV A NO BRAINER... by George Elsasser
This Saturday, from NYC’s Madison Square Garden it’s WBO light welterweight champ Miguel Cotto defending against Mohamed Abdullaev -but don’t look for a surprise  in this one.

CAN CASAMAYOR KEEP IT UP?... by Chris Robinson
At his best, Casamayor is remembered as the man who effortlessly busted up Jong Kwon Baek in his first title effort; the man who stalked and later slaughtered Roberto Garcia, or even the man who seemed to have Diego Corrales’ number the first time they met, dropping ‘Chico’ twice in very hard fashion in a thriller of a shootout.

CASAMAYOR SKILLS vs RAIYMKULOV BRAWN... by George Elsasser
The Saturday HBO co-feature is advertised as a 12 round lightweight eliminator between former WBA super-featherweight champ Joel Casamayor, and a still untested albeit undefeated lightweight  Almazbek Raiymkulov.

Cotto will take on Mohammad Abdullaev from Madison Square Garden on June 11th. The fight will be televised on HBO's Boxing After Dark with a good undercard headed by Joel Casamayor versus Kid Diamond. The fight is being promoted by Top Rank.
