IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris "Thunder"
Cloud, (23-0, 19 KOs), will defend his title a fourth
time this coming February 18th against former WBA
light heavyweight champion Gabriel "Chico Guapo"
Campillo (21 wins [8 KOs], 3 losses [1 KO], 1 draw),
who hails from Madrid, Spain. The fight will take
place at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi,
Texas.
Showtime will televise this bout which was originally
scheduled to take place between Cloud and Zsolt Erdei, who claims to have
suffered a training injury. Cloud - Campillo will share the broadcast with
Paul Williams (40-2, 27 KOs) vs. Nobuhiro Ishida (24-6-2, 9 KOs) and Chris
Arreola (34-2, 29 KOs) versus an opponent to be named.
Campillo won and lost the World Boxing Association (WBA)
title to Beibut Shumenov, a Las Vegas implant, originally from Shymkent,
Kazakhstan. Cloud scored a 12 round unanimous decision against Clinton Woods
in August 2009 to claim the IBF title. Since then, "Thunder" Cloud has
scored decision wins against Glen Johnson, Fulgencio Zuniga and a TKO8
against Yusaf Mack in June 2011.
