The ESPN2 Wednesday club fight tour visited West Palm Beach, Florida for a welterweight affair pairing Kermit Cintron and David Estrada in a scheduled twelve rounder - up for grabs an inconspicuous IBF positional strap... Still, for the paying clientele and those watching over the magic lantern, it was touch and go over nine action packed candles before a sudden finish early in stanza ten with Cintron pitching and Estrada catching.
Promoter Bobby Bostick has told us that David Estrada was released from the hospital this morning and is on his way home surrounded by family members and friends.
CINTRON ANNIHILATES ESTRADA... by Elisa Harrison @ ringside Kermit Cintron returned to his winning ways, scoring a very impressive 10th round TKO over David Estrada (18-3, 0 KOs) this Wednesday night at the beautiful and spacious Palm Beach Convention Center in Palm Beach, Florida. The card was promoted by Bobby Bostick Promotions. This fight was simply brutal, as the men tried their best to annihilate each other, holding nothing back, and certainly giving the crowd their money's worth.
For Estrada this is the chance to regain the same type of momentum he picked up when he upset Chris Smith in January of 2005. In that fight Estrada showed great stamina and a punishing body attack on his way to an 11th round TKO. It was the type of victory that elevated Estrada’s career to a new high, and he knows that a win over Cintron will do the same. It’s a big fight and it seems to be clear that Estrada isn’t looking past his foe. ... As the lights go dim there is an electricity in the air. At first the music sounds far away but in a moment you feel it through your entire body. The darkness is pierced by a ray of light and the crowd explodes as Kermit ‘The Killer’ Cintron begins his march towards destiny. Women in four inch heels are practically jumping out of their dresses and the men cheer passionately for their young hero. South Florida’s biggest fight in decades is only moments away and it is live on ESPN2! 4-23-2006
