CASTILLO AND CORRALES MAKE IT 3... by Kenny Perrault
Their first meeting has been called one of the greatest fights in boxing history with Diego Corrales getting off the canvas to stop Castillo. However, the first meeting was also met with controversy...

JOSE LUIS CASTILLO: VICTIM OR VILLAIN?... by George Elsasser
Yes, the con men among the purveyors of pugilism, along with hypocritical sanctioning bodies and NSAC alike, have aligned in discontent with promoters Bob Arum (Castillo) and Gary Shaw (Corrales) - and have the audacity to point fingers at Castillo as  some sort of pugilistic bank robber... CASTILLO - CORRALES 3: HATE THE GAME, NOT THE PLAYER... by Aladdin Freeman
I know the popular trend is to bash Jose Luis Castillo for not making weight but that isn’t right. I’ve been reading all the stories, “the fight fans are the big losers” or “Nevada should come up with a fine for Castillo” or my favorite one of all, “Castillo has given boxing a black eye”…you've got to be kidding me. Damn, I forgot about all the bad decisions over the years, all the fights that have lead to deaths, Mike Tyson getting mad media coverage that he didn’t deserve, yet Castillo not making weight has given boxing a black eye.

Even with the tension thick at Friday's weigh in I was never sure if people really believed Castillo would not make the weight or if they simply were just talking about it to add drama. The drama would quickly come to its climax as Jose Luis Castillo made his way to the scale. Castillo stepped on the scale then stepped off repeatedly, making it unclear what was going. The answer was simple though, Castillo had come in heavy and not by a pound or two but by five pounds, weighing in at 140 pounds.

DARCHINYAN POWER PREVAILS - RETAINS IBF STRAP... by George Elsasser
With the Castillo-Corrales tie-breaker canceled, things quickly became the Vic Darchinyan show at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV - and the defending IBF flyweight champion enjoyed the spotlight with a dazzling display of power punching, as he eventually stopped a game but outgunned Luis Maldonado.
