Duva Boxing, in association with Miccosukee Gaming Resort and ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, brings a night of action packed professional boxing to Miami on Friday, March 26, 2004. Headlining the 7 bout card will be undefeated welterweight prospect Oscar Diaz of San Antonio, TX, who puts his unblemished (17-0, 10 KO’s) record on the line to face Ebo Elder (17-1, 11 KO’s) from Atlanta, Georgia.
Diaz, who is managed by Hall of Famer Lou Duva and trained by world class trainer Tommy Brooks, is widely considered one of the most exciting young prospects in the Jr. Welterweight division. Elder, a former standout amateur whose Olympic dreams were cut short due to a motorcycle accident, has led a successful and exciting professional career.
Elder showed his power and determination when taking on Emanuel Clotty, a fight in which Elder was knocked down for the first time in his professional career. It was toe-to -toe action for ten rounds, with Elder ultimately winning a unanimous decision.
“Both of these young fighters go forward throwing power punches, so anything can happen! It should be a real crowd pleasing brawl!”, says Duva.
The co-feature showcases the talent of another rising star in the Jr. Welterweight division. Kendall Holt (14-0, 10KO’s) of Paterson, NJ also puts his undefeated record on the line against Puerto Rico’s Juan Rivera (12-1, 10 KO’s).
Holt, whose hand speed and boxing ability is world class, takes on hard hitting Rivera in an eight round bout. The undercard talent features Light Heavyweight prospect Shaun George (8-0; 5KOs), a former two time NY Golden Glove Champion from Brooklyn, NY who is managed by Lou Duva and trained by Tommy Brooks; Detroit Lightweight Damian Fuller (22-4), who is also trained by Tommy Brooks; and a trio of heavyweight bouts.
Hoping to continue their quest toward the heavyweight rankings are fan favorite Cuban heavyweight, Eliceo Castillo (15-0-1; 12 KO's) and former amateur standout, TJ Wilson, who recently moved to the Miami area a year ago to work under the tutelage of trainer, Patrick Burns.
Finally, fans will get to see the professional debut of Vero Beach, Florida Heavyweight Michael Marrone. Having developed a huge hometown following during a stellar amateur career, Marrone looks forward to making his impact on the heavyweight division under the management of Lou Duva.
“We’re very happy to once again bring a great night of boxing to the Miccosukee Resort, who under the guidance of Chairman Billy Cypress, has developed into one of the top venues in the country,” said Dino Duva CEO of Duva Boxing.
This show featuring future world champions begins at 8:00 PM EST
Tickets are priced at $75, $50, $30 and $15 and can be purchased at the Miccosukee Casino Resort. For further information, please contact Duva Boxing at (973) 790-7400.
