BRAGGING RIGHTS CORNER'S INNER CIRCLE...

  • Castillo is the only fighter in the world to more than hold his own with Floyd Mayweather Jr. I really feel he won their first fight but didn't get the nod. So we all know what kind of talent he is a big question is however is has he ever fought a south-paw the caliber of Joel Casamayor. I'll take the champion in a split decision. - Aladdin Freeman

  • I think Castillo will win by a decision. He has looked solid lately, and the Mayweather fights did not take as much out of him as some thought. Castillo looked great against Lazcano, and will continue on Saturday. I think Castillo will be a little too strong for Casamayor. Casamayor would really have to use his speed to win this fight, but he didn't show it much against Corrales. - Tom Dickey

  • Guess here is Casamayor by unanimous decision … only concern here, it could be aborted early due to one of them "inadvertent" clash of heads
scenarios when portsiders battle attacking wide wingers.  Either way the pick is Casamayor. - George Elsasser

  • I have to go with my gut feeling that Joel will beat Castillo , probably via a majority points route..  Castillo is a very tough man to get out of there, and I trust that he will hang tough in a long fight that will not be without incident . A great match-up with great exchanges but still Joel coming away victorious.       Joel  PTS 12 - Stephen Jones

  • The main event is the tough one to make a pick for but I'm going to go with Jose Luis Castillo by a unanimous decision. I find that Castillo is more impressive with each outing and Joel Casamayor seems to get in to a lull now and then that costs him crucial rounds. Either way Castillo takes this walking away. - Ed Ludwig

  • Jose Castillo has too much at stake to lose this fight with Joel Casamayor. A big payday fight with Diego Corrales looms and Castillo knows it. I don’t feel moving up in weight will hurt Casamayor but I expect Castillo to wear Casamayor down in the late rounds. Castillo has proven to be  very good against quick footed  boxers and Casamayor won’t be able to use his speed advantage, thus creating problems. Both fighters are very aggressive and we should see some fireworks at times but I see Castillo winning by Decision, possibly knockout if he forces Casamayor to become a puncher rather than the speedy boxer we have known him to be. - Mark Rourke

  • I'm going with Castillo by decision. - Mike Leanardi

  • I'm taking Castillo in 10.  I don't think the weight is a problem and Casamayor didn't impress me with his root canal excuse during the teleconference when he was asked about his less-than spectacular performance in July.  I always stick with the younger guy in these long battles, which this should turn out to be.  I'm guessing Castillo sticks one in there during the tenth that ends the fight.  Should be a good one though. - Tom Cannon

  • Casamayor by decision. - Danny Serratelli

  • José Luis Castillo is big, strong and hits very hard, but he's also very slow. Therefore, Casamayor should win by decision. - Oscar Borrás, 20 de Mayo

  • Castillo wins a unanimous decision; too strong for Casamayor and too busy.- Jeff Mayweather

  • I see Casamayor winning by split decision. - Oleg Bershadsky

  • Casamayor on points. Too much skill. - Darren Yates

  • Casamayor by unanimous decision. - Kenny Perrault

  • Castillo is just too big, too strong for 'Cepillo.' I see Jose having trouble by
Casamayor's movement but Castillo's body attack and pressure earns him a late round stoppage. Jose Luis Castillo in 10 in a great fight. - Robert Hernandez

  • Casamayor  starts fast wins by KO rd 3 - Kris Lake

  • Castillo is too big. He will be a welterweight by fight time, he will cut off the ring, apply pressure and pound the body. Castillo's work rate will be too much and will stop Casamayor sometime between the 9th and 10th rounds. - Jose Hernandez

  • It seems fighters are starting to peak later on in their careers, and not earlier, as used to be the case.  Casamayor fits this same mold, and he’s still hungry for another championship at 33 years of age.  That, plus he’s a local boy done good (Miramar, FL)  leads me to go with my heart over my head and predict Joel Casamayor to win another title in another weight class this Saturday night.  Casamayor by majority decision. - David L. Ross, Esq.

  • Castillo wins in 12 rounds. Both Castillo and Casamayor are both about done. Castillo has more left in his tank. Casamayor has problems standing up (his legs are gone) at this point of his career. - James Roberts

  • May I be excused on this one? Well, if you guys insist... I don't see the good little man beating the good big man, sorry. I don't think this is a good fight for Joel, but I am hoping he will prove me wrong. I don't see this one going the distance either. - Elisa Harrison

OUR BOXING FRIENDS SPEAK OUT...

  • Casamayor by decision. - Jackie Kallen

  • Casamayor - KO in the 9th. Casamayor needs this win to keep his career alive and he has the skill to get it. - Noah Lazes

  • Castillo by decision. - Robbie Peden

  • I have the strangest feeling that Casamayor will win it by Unanimous Decision.  I think that Castillo's style is made for a good fight, but is certainly a style that benefits Casamayor.  Casamayor  has very good hand speed, decent power that will probably hurt Castillo.  Castillo has trouble if the fighter in front of him isn't standing still, something that I think Casamayor will be doing (moving from side to side).  They both have a good chin, but I just think that Casamayor being a southpaw with power, good hand speed, and a good quick jab will have the advantage. - Genaro "Chicanito" Hernandez

  • Castillo  wins by late round TKO, meaning refs stops fight in the 11th - Butch Sanchez, trainer

  • Joel Casamayor needs to use his boxing skills to stay out of the way of the big punch coming from the bigger Jose Luis Castillo but I think Casamayor can box his way to a points victory. - Wayne McCullough

  • Castillo is a swarmer who usually forces the fight. Casamayor is a somewhat slick boxing southpaw, but lacks the power to deter Castillo. Swarmers are bothered the least by southpaws, especially those that lack a big finishing punch in his arsenal. The fact that Casamayor's punches will be coming at him from a different angle, won't bother Castillo. Since Castillo will be  pressing the fight and trying to get inside, Casamayor's infighting will be a bigger factor. Mayweather couldn't get rid of Castillo in 24 rounds in two fights, so Casamayor can forget about it. Castillo wins by decision. Frank Lotierzo

  • Casamayor will land sharp shots and keep Castillo honest for most of the fight. Good rumble for the whole 12. Joel comes through with a hard fought decision - Ice John Scully, trainer

  • Castillo Unanimous Decision - Fred Sternburg, Publicist

  • I think Castillo wins on a late KO, 10th or 11th round. - Jorge 'El Internacional' Alonso, referee

  • Castillo will prevail in this bout and win by decision. - Elmo Adolph, referee

  • I see Castillo as being too big and too tough for Casamayor to overcome. Castillo has already shown he can deal with top level southpaws (Stevie Johnston) and in the last five years has only lost to Floyd Mayweather. I think his recent win over Juan Lazcano dispelled any questions as to his still being able to make 135 effectively. I can see Casamayor winning the early rounds through movement and his greater boxing skills but I think Castillo will get into effective range as the Cuban begins to slow down a bit. Castillo should drop Casamayor at some point enroute to a twelve round unanimous decision. - Curtis McCormick, Press Officer www.frankmaloney.com

  • Castillo is too strong. It may take a few rounds for him to figure out the crafty Casamayor, but Castillo will put the Cuban to sleep in round 8. - Bob Trieger, Publicist

  • I think Casamayor is a very good boxer but Castillo is a very strong puncher
who will have an edge in size and power. Tough to call but I have a feeling
Castillo will be outboxed by the smaller Casamayor. Casamayor by decision. - Frank Gonzalez/Sharkie's Machine

  • Castillo is too big, too strong. Castillo inside 9 rounds. - Enrique Andrade, super middle weight contender

  • Casamayor has lots of pride to lose by KO. Casamayor's corner will stop the fight because their fighter will be taking too much punishment. Castillo is too strong for him. It's going to be close in the begining, but the body shots will show in the later rounds. Castillo in 7. - Librado Andrade, super middleweight contender

  • It's going to be a great fight, a Cuban and a Mexican, both are warriors and proud fighters. They both will fight their hearts out for the first 6 rounds. Somewhere between the second half Castillo's power will show and will walk through Casamayor's punches and  start to punish Casamayor. I believe Casamayor will run the last few rounds and survive the 12 rounds with Castillo winning. I can't see Casamayor getting Castillo's respect; that's going to be his problem. I like Castillo big. - Julio Gonzalez, former IBF light heavyweight champion.

  • I think Castillo, don't ask me why, I just think he will win. - Vinny LaManna

  • Castillo by 12 round decision, I think that he will be too busy for Casamayor. - Damon Feldman, Promoter

  • Casamayor is just too quick and crafty for Castillo ...and if you think he had trouble finding Mayweather he's in for the same type of fight. Casamayor by a 8th round stoppage on cuts. - Ronnie Duncan (Sportscaster and Ring Announcer)

  • I'll take Castillo by close decision. - Bernie Bahrmasel, Publicist

  • Um, the only resemblance I've had of a correct prediction in nearly a year has been Wright over Mosley  twice.  I PICKED HOYA OVER HOPKINS!!  Anyways - here goes:  Castillo has been dominant for the most part since dropping two to Mayweather.  I watched him beat up Lazcano and didn't score the fight nearly as close as a couple of the judges... *(Mind you this was less than a year after Lazcano RAPED Stevie Johnston in Vegas!).  YET, Casa showed too much game vs Corrales for me to ever feel comfortable betting "against"... thus, Casa by by decision. - Ricky Ray Taylor, Trainer

  • I must say that I've always liked Casamayor because he is a man's man and a true warrior.  Castillo on the other hand is on a roll and looked real good against Lazcano.  I still favor "El Cepillo" in this fight because I think Buddy will have him ready.  This bout goes the distance with Joel winning a split decision. - Mario Serrano, Publicist

  • Joel Casamayor W 12 Jose Luis Castillo -  I've gone back and forth on this one, and I promise me being Cuban has nothing to do with this prediction.  I believe Joel Casamayor is as talented as any fighter in boxing today.  He has excellent boxing skills, and above average power.  The only knock on him is that he takes off rounds.  We saw it against Freitas and Corrales.  I believe this will change for this fight, one of, or if not, the most important fight in his career.  Castillo is one bad man.  He has very good power, and does not relent for one second.  The one thing that has me picking Casamayor is Castillo's prior performance against Stevie Johnston.  He didn't fight bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought he lost both fights to Lil' But Bad.  I think this one will be close, and Casamayor will pull off a decision by the slimmest of margins. - Armando Alvarez, Maxboxing.com, Telemundo 51

  • A good big man most of the time beats a good little man. A good HUGE man will definitely beat an over the hill little one. Castillo will beat Casamayor worst than he's ever been beaten, stopping him in the latter rounds for the first time in the Cuban's illustrious career (amateur or professional).  - Yosvani Oliva, (Editor/www.boxeomundial.net)
