THE PEOPLE SPEAK ON CASTILLO-CASAMAYOR: AN EXCLUSIVE BRC POLL... by Elisa Harrison

CASTILLO WINS BY SPLIT DECISION... by Oleg Bershadsky
The were no surprises in this fight, at least where each fighter’s choice of strategy is concerned. From the onset Joel Casamayor tried to use his superior boxing skills and quickness to frustrate the bigger Castillo, while Jose Luis Castillo desperately tried to cut off the ring and force Casamayor to fight toe-to-toe. The first seven rounds of the fight were what some would call a purely tactical boxing match. The second half was a balance between tactical boxing and a good inside battle with shots being traded by both fighters.

CASTILLO WINS NARROW VICTORY OVER CRAFTY CASAMAYOR... by James Roberts, ringside
It looked like another long night for Jose Luis Castillo when Joel 'El Cepillo'  Casamayor showed up with significant energy and more intestinal fortitude than we’ve seen in years. Since Casamayor’s embarrassing defeat to Acelino Freitas a ways back, I believed his career was about done...

IT WAS SHOWTIME INDEED AT THE MANDALAY BAY DECEMBER 4... by Elisa Harrison
On paper it had the makings of a dynamite evening of boxing; however, the real deal surpassed all expectations. Keeping up with the tradition of bringing the best boxing on the first Saturday of the month, Showtime network put on a masterful show. It was a boxing fan's dream, and uncommon as it may be these days, the fans who watched got their money's worth and then some.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING DECEMBER 4 UNDERCARD PARTICIPANTS ADDRESS THE PRESS
In the evening’s second televised bout, International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Middleweight Champion Jeff Lacy (17-0, 14 KOs) will make his initial title defense against IBF No. 14 contender Omar Sheika (26-6, 17 KOs).

CASTILLO NIPS CASAMAYOR VIA SPLIT NOD... by George Elsasser
The Showtime Championship Boxing tripleheader from Mandalay Bay closed with Jose Castillo retaining the WBC lightweight title by split decision over Cuba’s Joel Casamayor - this one was no easy assignment for the judges at ringside.
From the opening bell it would be Castillo in pursuit of the elusive Casamayor with good movement, and a stinging jab and straight left hand - the Mexican attacker would need time to better solve the problem in front of him.

CASTILLO BEATS CASAMAYOR... Sharkie's Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Jose Luis Castillo (51-6-1-45 KO’s) got the job done Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas against the slick and always-dangerous southpaw, Joel Casamayor (31-3-0-19 KO’s).
Casamayor, the former Super Featherweight Champion who moved up to Lightweight has shown in recent bouts that he is not just a highly skilled technical fighter but at times, he can muster up surprising power. Moving up to 135-pounds and taking on one of the best in the division says a lot about his confidence.

SHOWTIME IMPRESSIVE... by Kenny Perrault
Showtime served up a triple decker tonight that was well worth the watch. To start off the night heavyweights Jeremy Williams and Samuel Peter met in the ring. Both fighters were active in the first round passing on the usual "feeling out" round. Williams had the quicker hands but in the end it didn't matter. Early in the second round Samuel Peter unleashed a huge left hook that connected flush to Williams’ head and sent him crashing hard to the canvas.

LUDWIG'S SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING PREDICTIONS
The question is which Jeremy Williams will show up against Samuel Peter? Both are talking trash to each other and that is a good sign so let's hope the fight lives up to the self proclaimed hype? I have to go with Samuel Peter in this one by a sixth round stoppage. He is young and hungry with something to prove. Williams will crack under the pressure and Peter's hand will be raised in victory.

ELSASSER'S SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING PREDICTIONS
If veteran Jeremy can get out of the gate as he once did, it could be an early evening for the 24 year young Peter. I question the legitimacy of Sam’s undefeated 20 wins with 17 halts, but Williams has kept 46 appointments with 36 by KO, and that tends to translate to tired blood if forced to work overtime.... Hunch is Peter survives the early blitz and then takes control for decision win. Only chance for Jeremy is if Peter’s chin is not authentic and crashes during opening blitz.

WBC LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION JOSE LUIS CASTILLO AND FORMER 130-POUND WORLD CHAMP JOEL CASAMAYOR MEET THE PRESS
CASTILLO:

I trained very hard for this fight, as I always do. It is an important fight and I trained in the mountains of Mexico.  I come ready to win and I think it will be a great fight.
CASAMAYOR:
I am in tremendous shape and feel real strong at this weight.  I have trained very hard for this fight and I will win. I  have never been in better shape in any other fight in my career.

CASTILLO - CASAMAYOR: WHICH CASAMAYOR WILL SHOW UP?... by Tom Dickey
It will be your classic boxer versus puncher, unless Casamayor tries to become a puncher. With Castillo's power, stamina, and experience against speedy boxers (Mayweather and Johnston), Castillo should be able to pull out the victory. But, Casamayor is not a fighter who should be underestimated. The fight takes place this Saturday night, and will be televised on Showtime.

THE MEXICAN BULL vs  THE CUBAN MATADOR: BREAKING DOWN CASTILLO-CASAMAYOR... by Chris Robinson
What will happen when you place these two commodities in the same ring together is beyond me, but luckily for us we are going to find out on December 4th. Showtime will televise the Castillo-Casamayor fight and it looks to be a match-up that will please all types of fight fans. From intense in-your-face action to slick boxing and from power punching to counterpunching this is a match-up that will most definitely deliver on all accounts.

PETER LEFT-HOOK A NIGERIAN NIGHTMARE... by George Elsasser
The Showtime Championship Boxing televised tripleheader from out in the desert of Mandalay Bay Resort country, is one that will be hard to match -  a fistic bill of fare that had something for everyone … and a bit more.

LYAKHOVICH OUT DUELS GUINN BY UNANIMOUS DECISION... by George Elsasser
On paper it looked like the ideal choice -a first step in regaining lost prospect status for its charge- or, so the Dominick Guinn brain trust thought... Unfortunately, the pigeon turned hawk Serguei Lyakhovich, had other plans - and what we got was an interesting heavyweight chess match that saw the Russian giant out dueling Guinn for the decision win.

'THE WHITE WOLF' LYAKHOVICH UPSETS GUINN... by Art D'Arrigo, Jr.
While Lyakhovich posted a very respectable 27-2 record against average competition, what really stood out was his lack of power (only 14 KOs). Against a strong puncher like Guinn, I expected a plodding European unable to keep the bigger stronger Guinn from landing his standout right hand.

SAMUEL PETER NEEDS AN IMPRESSIVE STOPPAGE OVER WILLIAMS... by Stephen Jones
This coming weekend sees one of the most promising rising heavyweights take his next steps towards the top of a muddled divisional mix up. Duva Boxing's Nigerian prospect Samuel Peter is to face probably his trickiest task to date in the shape of currently on form Jeremy Williams who is by no means a shrinking violet.
