Time of TKO 1:30 mark of numero tres - and Peter can protest the
premature stoppage all he wants, says here he made the trip across the pond for
a portion of the take that only a gathering of some 30 thousand or more Welsh
loyalist would provide - not to mention local PPV suckers as
well. Calzaghe played it close to the vest in opening stanza before
picking up the pace in number two - come round three he began laying it all out
on the table - the punches were coming in bunches from body to head and back
again. Plenty names were tossed about for the winner - Hopkins, Taylor,
Kessler … and did I hear Jones? Guess is we will see Calzaghe again - in a real
fight.

"...We're offering Jermain Taylor £3m to fight Joe in July, and
American television network HBO have talked about fighting Bernard Hopkins in
January, so we'll see what happens."
Warren also scoffed at the idea that Calzaghe needs to go to America to prove
himself as a great fighter. "Guys want to get paid big money, so you go where you can generate the
money," said Warren.
"Would Joe get a bigger crowd in the States than if he fought Taylor here? I
don't think so. And anyway, this fight was shown live on TV in the States.
"I don't get this idea of 'if you don't go to the States, you haven't made
it'. Tonight, 35,000 people got to see their champion, and that's what's
important."

PETER MANFREDO JR.: UP AGAINST THE WORLD ON SATURDAY...
by Tom
Dickey
Manfredo has a monumental task in front of him on
Saturday. Calzaghe is unlike any other fighter that
he's faced, quicker and slicker too. The last couple
of guys Manfredo faced were anything but quick. In
those fights, speed seemed to be Manfredo's biggest
advantage. He will not have this advantage on
Saturday. Manfredo's best bet will probably be to turn
the fight into an ugly brawl, and even that won't be
an easy task. Despite taunts that Calzaghe slaps with
his punches, Calzaghe can punch, just ask Jeff Lacy of
Byron Mitchell.
"To be honest, I've heard it all before," said
Calzaghe, who aims to make the 20th defence of his
world title and equal the record of Larry Holmes and
Bernard Hopkins.
"Like everyone else who has come into the ring
thinking they are going to beat me, Manfredo will go
home defeated. I'm going to knock him out and then I'm
going after Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins."
LEONARD: "PETER MANFREDO SHOWS ALL THE SIGNS FOR PULLING OFF
UPSET IN WALES!"
"I have seen Peter grow. He is bigger and
stronger than I have ever seen him. He has a
confidence and a bravado that gives me confidence in
him," said Leonard. "The stars are aligned.
He is at the perfect weight and he is fighting
Calzaghe at the perfect time. Peter has had the
best training camp. He is ready for this
opportunity and he is ready for Joe Calzaghe.
