While not terribly familiar with the Argentinean, I had caught his back and forth battle with Acelino ‘Popo’ Freitas a year and a half back, and in watching Barrios lose valiantly I had seen enough to know that his heart and determination were world class. Up until today’s weigh in I still had to call Anchondo as the clear favorite, but moments ago I was informed that Mike failed to make the 130 lb. limit, coming in at 134 ½ pounds, thus making me reevaluate things even more clearly.

Jorge "La Hiena" Barrios, (42-2-1, 30 KOs), lived up to expectations as he challenged WBO super feather champion Miguel "The Powerful" Anchondo, (25-0, 18 KOs), taunting him by calling him a "fake Mexican" at today's press conference, which took place at Luna Restaurant in Miami. The much anticipated and exciting championship fight is part of a Main Events and Team Freedom co-promotion. In the co-feature, unbeaten welterweight Joel Julio (21-0, 18 KOs) takes on Carlos Vilches (43-5-2- 25 KOs) in a ten-rounder. Both bouts will be televised by ESPN2.
