TATA FOR NOW... by Chris Ackerman
It was nice to hear that Tata negotiated himself into a million dollar payday with Arturo Gatti, but let’s try to keep that victory in perspective. We all love the ‘blood and guts warrior’ but when a warrior’s blood and guts are splayed all over the ring time and again, the writing on the wall gets pretty clear. Gatti gave us some thrilling battles, but whenever the competition level was bumped to that elite notch, the result was a one-sided beat down that his heart dragged out a little longer than it should have. He injured his hand in almost every recent outing, and was cut or swollen grotesquely in every post-fight interview.

IT'S EARLY YET, BUT MY VOTE FOR FIGHTER OF THE YEAR GOES TO CARLOS BALDOMIR... by Aladdin Freeman
It seemed like Baldomir hurt Gatti with several right hands in the 9th round and then went for it, just trading and landing a huge barrage of punches before Gatti went down for the first time in the fight. Moments later, Baldomir jumped on Gatti once again, and down went Gatti, for good this time. Gatti was beaten, cut and deflated; the harsh reality of retirement staring him in the face.

BALDOMIR STEAMROLLERS GATTI IN NINE... by George Elsasser
Carlos Baldomir (43-9-6, 13 KOs) ~ the mystery man from Argentine a stranger no more - the convincing win over Gatti, coupled with the action pace from start to finish, plus a noticeable rock solid chin, shouts volumes his title win over then defending Zab Judah, was no fluke or overconfidence issue.

A TALE OF TWO GATTIS AND ONE SOLID BALDOMIR... by Mike Casile/PBR
Old blood and guts, displayed blood and guts, but did not display any respect for one of the greatest trainers in boxing, or his rugged, work horse opponent, Carlos Baldomir, and he paid dearly for it. It was great stuff, had it been the WWE...

CARLOS BALDOMIR TKO'S ARTURO GATTI IN NINE... Sharkie's Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
The fight was stopped late in the ninth round after Baldomir caught Gatti against the ropes and landed a barrage of punches, capped off by a left hook that put Gatti down. When Gatti got up, Baldomir pounced on him for the finish, landing another left hook that put Arturo down, forcing the stoppage.

OTHER RESULTS FROM ATLANTIC CITY...

BALDOMIR: "I'LL LEAVE THE CONCLUSION TO YOU GUYS..."
"I’m really happy to be back in the NY area because I won the belt here.  I’ll never forget that . . .   Everyone knows me and everyone knows Gatti, so I’ll leave all the conclusions to you guys . . . "

Gatti: "I’m prepared for this fight.  I am taking Baldomir very seriously.  He beat Zab Judah.  Zab Judah is a much better fighter than I am, but he doesn’t have the heart that I have.  Baldomir won the title in NY, but he’s going to lose it in NJ.  A victory is guaranteed.  Bet the house..."

IN AND OUT PREVIEW: CARLOS BALDOMIR vs ARTURO GATTI... by Chris Robinson
I think Baldomir’s patience and overall steadiness will help him work his way back into the fight by the mid rounds and I feel he will close as the stronger fighter. I think this could be similar to a long distance runner getting off early and trying to maintain his lead down the stretch. The problem is, after all of his wars, I just don’t think Gatti has the same energy or late round stamina of his old days.
