STRENGTHS
Physically strong fighter with a good punch…Has shown improvement with each showing…Takes a good punch on the jaw… Can box or brawl when necessary… Respectable list of competition for a 22 year old with only 15 fights.

WEAKNESSES
His aggressive style leads to him being hit more than he should…His hands might be a shade slower than some of the elite Jr. Middleweights in the world…

NOTABLE FIGHTS
Handed Alex Bunema a defeat in May of 2000, by way of 5th round TKO. Bunema's broken nose called for his corner to stop the fight.

Ouma rolled past veteran Tony Marshall in January of this year, winning a lopsided decision and stunning the granite chinned Marshall throughout the course of 10 rounds.

He also went to war with another veteran, Vernon Phillips, in September. It was a give and take brawl that saw Ouma's greater work rate pull himself out a unanimous decision. A good fight that showed what Ouma is made of.

OUMA WILL GET TOUGHEST TEST AGAINST LERMA ON 2/15

Kasim “The Dream” Ouma, of Uganda, gets the toughest test of his career when he takes on Waco, Texas' southpaw Michael Lerma, in the 10-round main event Friday evening, Feb. 15, at the Arts Palace in Philadelphia.

Ouma is rated #16 by the WBC after having won his last three fights against Tony Marshall, Vernon Phillips and Pedro Ortega. Kasim Ouma was kidnapped at the tender age of 7 by the Ugandan guerrillas; he learned to box in the army and became a member of the Ugandan Olympic team. He was unable to attend the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta but defected in 1998 while visiting the United States as a member of Uganda's national team.

Only a careless one round KO loss to Augustin Silva, ("I was clowning around, not paying attention, says Ouma), and a Technical Draw with James Coker due to a head butt spoil Ouma's record. He also KO'd contender Alex Bunema in five rounds.

Kasim is a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida and trains under the tutelage of former World Boxing Association junior welterweight Johnny Bumphus.

Michael Lerma has been in with the best at 154 pounds. He split in two fights with top contender J.C. Candelo, out pointed Mario Iribarren and drew with Alex Bunema. Losses have come against Bronco McKart and ex-IBF champ Raul Marquez. A pro since 1995, Lerma has a 24-6-1 record with 18 KOs. He is a former three-time Texas Golden Gloves champion.
