THE BETTER MAN WON!

I thought if Spinks fought the perfect fight he would emerge victorious and he did just that. I actually thought he dominated Mayorga, it was kind of like the "bully" finally meeting his match not because he wasn't the stronger but he was out-smarted. Spinks' corner did a great job. Kenny Cunningham his trainer gave him great advice and he took heed to it and delivered a near flawless performance.
I think the better man won and deservingly so; sometimes things turn out the way they are supposed to. Mayorga spoke about Spinks deceased mother and there is never a place or a time to speak on someone that isn't even here to defend themselves. I'm sure after Mayorga came up short he had to feel pretty bad about the things he said, and he was man enough to admit he was sorry for the things he said prior to the fight. It took a real man to at least apologize, or was it just an act of being humbled and saving face for not backing up all the trash that he talked? Nevertheless Spinks handled it like a true professional as he took it all in stride and was man enough to accept Mayorga's apologies and held no ill feelings behind it. In my eyes that's what being a True Champion is all about.
I applaud Cory Spinks and will continue to root for him as long as he carries himself in the manner he has displayed not only last night but throughout his career. I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him, and he is classy, just as he handled himself with class on fight night. I think he is the genuine article and not someone playing a role hoping to endear himself to fight fans. If he continues not only to fight well but to display his character outside of the ring he will surely become a fan's favorite. No matter what happens from this day forward, Tonight you can't ever take away from him. On this night, Saturday, December 13th, 2003 the Better Man Won.
I'm so glad for Cory Spinks! He acted like a true Champion throughout the build up for the fight between him and Mayorga. Mayorga acted like a disrespectful fool, and got his hat handed to him on a platter. He said so many harmful and unnecessary things, and was forced to turn around and eat each and every single word, in the end bowing down and becoming a humble and gracious loser.
