Contreras maybe takes round one, but then it was Diaz with constant pressure ... a snapping jab, backed up with hooks and right hands to body and head gives him the edge through round five ... and then things became interesting.
It was round six with Diaz on the attack ... bam ... Contreras counters with right uppercut followed by a straight right and down goes Diaz ... not hurt, but still, a 10-8 round for Contreras.
Continued hot and heavy with Contreras carrying a blistering pitch-n-catch round seven, and at that point this one could well be back to square one in the scoring department ... and it continued from busy to furious thru candles 8-9-10.
Diaz gets the decision ... a well earned one ... and showed he'll be a future force at lightweight ... and hopefully, Contreras will benefit from a dynamite showing ... solid chin, good technician and a definite roadblock tester for other celebrated new faces down the road. Eleazar too is a young ring warrior as well at age 23.
The underneath card also featured Panchito Bojado and a going in undefeated William Adamyan at 9-0 with 3 KOs ... and as suspected the Adamyan ring record shouted a deficiency in the power-punching department ... still, it was an active affair thru opening five candles.
An inadvertent head-butt in round one resulted in Bojado cut over right eyebrow ... could have impaired the kid's performance ... ever the aggressor but wild at times it gave the taller Adamyan some opportunities to steal a round or two ... but then number six.
Bojado closed the show late in the round with a major league right uppercut ... and as quick as you can shout lights out this one was a done deal.
REPORT CARDS:
Juan Diaz: At age 19 is advanced in skills beyond his years ... patience will come in due time. Good banger but not one-punch knockout type. Love the semi-peek-a-boo style ... the jab and the diversified attack. A kid to watch at '35 pounds.
Panchito Bojado: Turns age 20 tomorrow ... hands are both quick and lethal at jr. welter ... altho' the foes will become tougher and stronger as he steps up. Jury out on just how good a climb he'll enjoy.

Is that NBC Budweiser Saturday series on a mini-roll or wot ... a week back it was Rocky Juarez-Frankie Archuleta ... this week we get a Juan Diaz-Eleazar Contreras main event that spelled "Tora-Tora-Tora" from start to finish.
