EXCLUSIVE REPLAY OF THE VARGAS-MAYORGA FIGHT SATURDAY, DEC. 1 AT 8 PM, ET ON ESPN CLASSIC
ESPN Classic will broadcast the exclusive replay of Ricardo
Mayorga's decision over Fernando Vargas on Saturday, Dec. 1
at 8 p.m., ET. Last night, at the Staples Center in Los
Angles, Mayorga knocked down Vargas in the first and 11th
rounds to capture a majority decision in a 12-round super
middleweight bout.
Two judges scored the Nicaraguan fighter a winner by scores
of 115-111 and 114-112 while the third saw the bout as a
113-113 draw.
Mayorga, who dominated the bout early and late, improves to
28-6-1. Vargas, who said before the fight that win or lose he
would retire, falls to 26-5. He had 22 victories by knockout.

A fit, trim and confident Fernando Vargas was mostly all
business during an open media workout Thursday at Valencia, Calif.
On the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, Nov. 23, Vargas and
Mayorga will fight in a highly anticipated main event of an excellent
pay-per-view fight card at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles that begins at 10
p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and is being distributed by SHOWTIME® PPV.

various times on the premium network until Nov. 23, when “Ferocious”
Fernando Vargas and Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga will meet in the ring to

Look at Mayorga, as dark as he is, and he’s darker than
me, he turned completely white when I fought back. He felt my power…and I
got him.
I am a professional, but if someone acts unprofessional
towards me, I will act unprofessional right back. He felt the
difference when someone is not going to take that. He knows that and I
went and got him. The first overhand right missed, but then I got him
